Cosworth IX Cams RULE ! My test
Al, remember our Dallas discussion 2 months ago concerning the "then coming out 20G-LT (EvoGreen) combined with Cosworth Cams for the IX? Looks like we were dead on. Great job and thanks for the info.
GREAT post, Al
AWESOME presentation.
Thanks for the INFO.

Thanks for the INFO.
Today I installed our first set of Cosworth Evo IX cams and I am very impressed
There is no suprize why they do F1, Cart, Indy, WRC etc etc etc
The cams look better made right out of the box - they remind me of the JUN cams I have been using in my Evo
Our test car is a 2006 MR IX with
Knobby glacial grip snow tires
Down Pipe and 02 housing
Stock CAT and CAT Back - customer lives in draconian MA where modified cats and cat back are illegal
STOCK Air box
Walbro pump
MBC
Just dropping in the cams without ANY TUNING what so ever gets us 20 - 28 whp and TQ through the entire power band with the exception of the area below 3300 where we lost a tad of power
The idle is amazing - just right - its a bit racier but it is not agressive
The car "sounds" creat the sound of the cams inside the head has a really great "ring" that I can't describe but it just sounds for lack of a better word - "racey"
Adding some tuning quickly brings in the spool up area we are now making nearly 50 whp at 3,000 and almost 80 TQ at peak TQ
Of course this car is not going to show maximum potential of the IX as he has a stock cat and cat back but it does clesrly show me that the Cosworth Cam is a really quality unit and delivers the power
This is untuned - Stock Cams vs Cosworth Cams - boost exactly the same

This is the final tuned set up - notice the gains on the low end with some MIVEC adjustment (note the top end power is limited due to stock cat and cat back)

Just by way of control - and reference - this is a Stage II IX I tuned today - same dyno settings - no cams - which shows how badly the stock cat and stock cat back is hurting our IX with Cosworth Cams above.
My goal is to test the cams on a Stage II IX to see how much it gains over this

I just want to add the cam spec sheet. At the bootom of the Spec sheet it says:
"These Camshafts should be used with Cosworth Valvesprings for proper operation. Retain the factory redline if stock factory springs are used."
Notice that the spec sheet says factory REDLINE and NOT REV LIMIT. I would think that by redline Cosworth means 7000 rpm. If I were running these cams I would check with Cosworth to get a clarification on what they mean.

Thanks for sharing good info about Cosworth IX cams. I am now convinced that these cams provide good gains of 20~30 tq/hp. One observation, why does the hp curve start to drop off at 5500 rpm on the last graph with Stage II IX? Shouldn't it at least continue to go up until 6500 rpms?
I can tell you this
I purchased a Cosworth Evo 8 head for my Race Evo and it is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Every week or so, I go down to my basement and look it over. I don't know if I will ever use it but its a real great work of art and make a great paper weight.

That's awesome! Reminds me of a friend of mine who's dad has a Mercury/Chevy LT5 from a ZR1 inside a custom glass coffee table as a living room showpiece. He told me that it gets more admiration there than he ever thought it could in his Vette.
