large turbos louder
large turbos louder
when a large turbo spools the same psi as a smaller turbo, is it louder.just wondering because i would think so since it is moving alot more air at that psi than a smaller turbo.
I mean when it starts to spool,is it a higher pitch sound, not exhaust related.kind of lie when you put a intake on your car the turbo gets louder, well you can hear it more
yes a larger turbo is louder even at same boost levels..i ran a stock turbo at 21 or so then moved to the AMS 35r and way louder..i rode in a evo in florida with the exact same set up as me and he had internal dump i have ext dump and even the internal dump is louder then a stock evo..he was at 21-22 psi as well...but the external is louder then internal
Anytime you install a larger turbo the car will be louder even at idle because there is less restriction on the exhaust side of the turbo. Turbo's quiet a car's exhaust, when you increase the size of the exhaust side of the turbo the silencing effect of the turbo is reduced making the car louder. External wastegates which also go hand in hand with almost any turbo kit also will make the car louder, especially when its dumping to atmosphere.
