p0300 code on 03 evo

hey my service engine soon light came on, so i ran the code and it came back as p0300(random/multiple cylinder misfire). i have an 03 evo and heard that this is a common thing since the knock sensor is so sensative, and it says this even though no problem exists. is there a way to get rid of the ses light, such as replacing the sensor or something?

if there isnt really a problem then you can disconnect the battery then reconnect it after a min, but that is if you really dont have a problem

Do you have stock plug wires? I had this problem with replacements before I went back to stock ones.

I got the same code today but as far as I know the plug wires are stock and I have had EGR probs- dealer replaced one already and it has come off and the Autozone employee said that the EGR can affect the misfire- Any help is appreciated - I stood there with a confused look but I said OK and went on my way to set an appt with the dealer for warranty work

There is no easy fix.
I've heard people fixing it by changing diff/tranny fluids, replacing with a rebuilt transmission, changing spark plugs, having the dealer flash it...etc

I've tried some of those with the exception of rebuilding my transmission. Some of them may make the code pop up less frequent but for me it still comes back

The only thing that has helped me is by using a C-reader. Basically you just plug it into the OBD II socket and leave it there. When you get the code it erases for you while driving. The only bad part is that it may clear some codes that isn't the p0300.

yea stock plug wires. i also got a new clutch recently, the only reason i mention this is i have researched this problem on a couple forums and i have seen a few people that got this code after replacing the clutch. i don't know how a clutch can give you this code, but whatever.

I had my 03 Evo bought back under the lemon law because of the 0300 code. Do you notice any difference in the performance of the car? Is this error reoccurring?

I had the same issue after a custom tune but, code was coming up due to an after market spark plug cable, I went back to stock cable and problem was solve until last Sunday, I was on Interstate 4 driving from Daytona to Orlando and I was driving at higher speeds than normal about 100 but, in one point I reach 145 since someone was trying to pass me, after I stop on a traffic light the service engine soon came on, I went to AutoZone just to make sure what it was and sure was famous p0300 code, the guy from A/Zone reset my code an so far everything looks normal but, I don't understand why it came up in the first place!!!

I got it this past summer, but it was so hot here I saw Satan with a snow cone. So I thought it was heat related. I got it read and it eventually went away. But I think I'm going to get some sort of scan tool though. Because of the heat and the 91 oct.

A hot day means thin oil in the transmission. Since the computer is mistaking a transmission problem for misfire thin oil helps pop the p0300 code. BYW a Creader is a scan tool.

I Got the code after i installed my turboback exhaust, so i thought it was the O2 cell for the longest time since it happened shortly after the install. So when I threw a code one day i checked it and it was the P0300 code and i was stumped. I had no driveability issues, so i just monitored it over time. Well, I maintained that code almost 24/7 for a good year, coming on for a few days, going off, then coming back on later the same day.

Well, i had a hunch a took of the front lower brace, the one that goes right under the downpipe, I HAVENT HAD THE CODE SINCE, and it has been about six months or so. I believe that it was barely vibrating on the lower brace and causing the code, I am no expert, but that seemed to be the cause of the code. The funny thing is, it wasnt really a loud vibration. usually you know when something is touching and vibrating and I didnt realize that the downpipe was touching the brace. When i rev'd the car I could faintly hear something vibrating, i Just thought it was one of the heat shields.

So, this might be the source for some of you guys. Hope it helps.
