drivetrain damage..

I was at the strip last sunday for bracket racing... I was holding my rpm at 5500 for a good launch when I dumped the clutch at the light, I heard a loud pop and my evo was immoblize.... what do you think broke? I had my car towed back home and planning to bring it to the shop on monday.... I wanna know in advance the extent of the damage... thanx for any suggestions....

yes it was a flatbed.... I can't figure what broke coz there's no oil leak.. no sound of gear grinding either... just a loud pop... and that's it.. won't run at all..... my evo IX was dynoed at 290 awhp mustang dyno...

I would check driveline axles differential and all kinds of other things and thats good that you were on a flatbed if not it would have made it worse but any smoke when there was the pop or no

did the car shut off? Or it kept running but didnt go anywhere while in gear? it could be something stupid like this intercooler pipe blowing off the throttle body. This has happened to me numerous times

i was at the strip last weekend and when coming off the line i heard a loud pop, but the car was able to drive, just very roughly, and loud clunking and rattling was coming from the rear. turned out to be a broken rear axle

More like no clutch or tire smell and you launched correctly...
