I think he was laughing at my post, which was a pic of the existing GT-35 kit because it looks EXACTLY THE SAME as the new turbo. Both of your posts were at the same time.

I spoke with robert briefly about this turbo. The secret is a new design compressor wheel that is the same size as the 35r. Current 35r turbos can be upgraded by swapping just the wheel. No current dates yet on when it will become available.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I asked this earlier in this thread but didn't get a response..

Since the wheel is of a different design, could that change be made to other Garrett turbo's?

so....since the trim and inducer have to be the same...and david called it a 3582... which would designate that it has an 82mm exducer (if david is following Garrett nomeclature...which he MOST certainly is calling it a gt3582R.)

the modifications to the compressor wheel/Housing will be....a clipped wheel or a different contour of the blade ...which would require a different compressor housing altogether. Since he's making more MID range on the turbo... I would think that he increased curvature of the wheel...and thus has less surface area on the wheel.

Dave,
Could you please overlay AFR, Boost pressure, and correction factor, with your dynograph. Since you are "recreating the wheel" lol. When you give us information like this its pretty worthless. And you might as well just tell people what you did instead of trying to be sneaky. Keep up the testing...just try to be a bit more scientific and humble with your findings.

The PSI was no disclosed and doesn't need to be, both tests were at the same boost level and same AFR's. AFR's aren't on the sheet either.

Backpressure, the new turbo had less than the standard GT3582 turbo. Quite a bit less actually.

The compressor wheel in the the new turbo is custom made, that's the change.

Not my custom wheel. FP designed this turbo. I am just lucky enough to be involved in the testing of it.

So, can this new compressor wheel be used in the 3065? I guess so, huh? Probably be a decent spooler, even on a stock displacement engine.

Yea, but between Robert's design and your pimpin, you guys have everyone swooning (for good reason!) over the evo green/20g-LT and I hope this will be the same.

Are there any plans to do a custom turbine wheel on this? Perhaps something between the 30 and 35 hotside? Or maybe something a little bigger than the 35 hotside?

Yes, this new wheel could be used in the 3065, it's coming, don't worry.

I haven't heard of any thoughts of a different turbine wheel.

Once testing is done, FP will release it's new compressor wheel in 69-118mm versions for everything from Mitsubishi TD06 to Garrett 30 - GT45R. Until initial demand has been met, supplies will go to make new turbos first. Later, retrofits to your existing turbos may follow.

Always good to see new wheel combinations and the results look good. Question, how do your reduce backpressure(besides clipping) when the turbine wheel/turbine housing remain the same?

Will the o2 housing fit other downpipes? The WORKS one for example? Will there be an option to have a four inch intake kit included with the turbo kit?

What new O2 housing? The change is on the compressor side, not the hot side.
