To much boost?

I just installed my new turbonetics intercooler and i had my car at 26 psi with meth. after i got my intercooler installed i tryed 4th gear and it goes to about 28 psi and i hear a loud pop and then i just let off it? would that noise be the turbo? i never had the problem with this b4 the intercooler but im guessing my psi went up a bit after the install. jw if i have to turn the boost down or what?

Hitting Fuel cut. You need to have the values for some RPM based load changed. I cant remember what its called once you try to bring it up in ECUtek.

that would be boost cut... you need to lower your boost.. and most likely need a slight retune... just turn the boost down to 26 pounds. and youll be okay.

the fact that you hit a boost cut signifies that your car is protected and wont just blow up without a warning

cheers!

You're flowing more air maybe?

Anyway, we need to clear up what you mean by "pop." You can't just say it makes a pop - you have to give WAY more details like:

1) At what RPM do you hear this pop?
2) Do you also feel it? Does the car jerk, hesitate, sputter, or hit a brick wall?
3) If you're tuned, do you even have fuel cut still active in the ECU? Ask Jestr.
4) Does the car continue building boost or does everything shut down right when you hear the pop?
5) Are you saying that in 4th/5th gear previously at full boost through the powerband, it never did this before?

KartaRailed, I think you meant EcuFlash? EcuTek is not relevant here - he has a flash from Jestr who doesn't use EcuTek, and EcuTek costs like $5000, so I doubt kyle has purchased his own version.

boost stayed the same from before the install to after. jw if the intercooler has somthing to do with it? i thought if anything i would be able to turn up boost because of colder air not turn it down.

Sounds like before you got the IC you were running 26 psi. Now at 28 you are hitting the cut. Just call jestr tomorrow and get him to raise that value table I was talking about.

it was at about 4000 rpms in 4th, at 28 psi were it was hitting b4 the i installed the intercooler. it pops and then it just slows down, i let off the gas as soon as i heard it. called jestr and he said somthing that the air is denser and that might have somthing to do with it.

Your right warr, I did mean EcuFlash. Once your in the program there are quite similar though, so I kinda use them interchangebly when I talk, to be perfectly honest I thought ECUTek was the free one and EcuFlash was the one with the really expensive liscence. At anyrate, that Value Table needs to be bumped more, and you need to ad a little more fuel as your adding more air by letting opening up the intake tract a little more.

edit* That was nice of him to talk to you at 11 pm, I would have said **** off. Good service.

You're not doing too well with this whole typing thing. Please take some time to explain yourself better. Proofread your posts before hitting submit. You started this thread by telling us you ran 26psi before the FMIC upgrade, but then it went to 28psi afterwards. Now, you're telling us it was 28psi before, which is a different story, so which is it? Also, your answer to my question still was very vague. You're just saying it pops...wtf does that mean? Is it an explosion? Just saying "pop" is not descriptive enough. You then said "it pops and then it just slows down" as if the car slows itself down, but followed that by saying you let off the gas. Ok, that doesn't help. I need to know what the car does - not what you do to the car.

It is extremely rare to hit fuel cut at 4000rpm, because fuel cut is caused when you surpass a certain airflow volume limit that is set in the ECU. At 4000rpm, even at 28psi, you have very little airflow volume. It's not until you get up at higher rpms that the airflow volumes get really high and cause fuel cut.

Wait, your not tuned for the meth specifically? Thats your problem right there.
