Turbo Timer
Do you guys think it's ok to leave the Turbo Timer in when taking the evo to the dealership for maintenance/oil changes. I had to splice 2 ECU wires for the turbo timer. Does splicing into the ECU cause problem with the warranty? Dont they have to splice wires for an alarm too?
The reason I ask is because I've had a lot of worries about the fact I spliced two wires.....maybe I should have made some type of harness instead....

Unless you have a wiring problem, I can't imagine that causing a problem. Technically they can't void your entire warranty because of that (ie. if you has an exhaust problem, the wire splicing would be irrelevant).

What if the ECU or something electrical went out for some reason? A lot of dealers are scoundrels so I expect them to attribute something like that to the TT install. Would they have to prove the TT installation caused it? I cant imagine how a TT install would short anything. Just curious...
PS - Mark....i'm still waiting on the price for that Blitz TT.......my friend with the prices turned his phone off for the whole week because of finals.

ok.... first off... u shoulda done it w/harness bcuz splicing into wires that run into your ecu will for damn sure void that section of your warranty... u shouldve gone the way i went.. i have the new greddy full auto timer... used the eclisple harness... greddy said it wont work.... **** works fine.... however i didnt connect my speed wire... cuz i have no need for it.... and that will require splicin which i did not want...

I did use the harness. But there are 3 wires that require splicing and no harness is available for. The crank position sensor, speedo, and brake wire. The harness taps into the ignition wires under the sterring column but not the ECU one. The TT doesnt work without at least splicing the brake wire. THe splicing was simple...i didnt have to cut anything or weld anything. It just came with little red clips that you snap over the ECU wire and it stabs the wire to tap it.
My dealer said - it's aftermarket - and could possibly void the warranty. I mentioned what it does, and what it's for, but it didn't matter.
I politely told them I'd be coming in for a turbo replacment around 40000 miles.

U know what I say, forget the turbo timer, modify the car to high hell go drag racing and turn the car off directly after hard runs or long drives, this should cook the bearing in the turbo nicely. Then take the car back in and tell them to change your turbo out becasue your car is burning too much oil, and ask them would you like me to install a turbo timer this time so this does not happen again....
Heck even the owners manual says the car only needs like 3 seconds befor you turn the key off.... HAHHAHAHA

TT
I asked the service manager and tech rep about adding a TT and the warranty issue. They told me it would not affect the warranty. Same goes with the air intake as long as the mass air sensor stays the same.
I may ask for that in writing on my next visit.

I think the best thing to do might be to call the Mitsu Corporate offices hotline. I called them when I had a question about sunroofs and they had all the answers in detail. I think they would know. However, they might also say it's up to the dealers to decide on warranty claims.
