Top transmission bolt problems

Im trying to swap out a clutch today, and ive hit a speed bump. I have EVERYTHING done accept the top tranmission/motor bolt out. Not the one that is by the ACD Banjo, but the one that is closest to the rear of the block, down in a crevis. 17mm head.

I can not get this bolt to move at all. I dont beleive a socket will fit, due to the metal around the bolt head. I can get an open ended wrench on it, but due to the angle, it starts to hit the transfercase/transmission before it can continue.

Does anyone have any tips/hints on what they did to get this bolt off? I have everything, including the TOB removed, but the bell housings are still stuck together..

This is on an 05MR 6 speed. Thanks

I have no clue which one you are talking about but I did my clutch swap recently and I could access every single bolt with a ratchet, some just needed long extensions

The one that i am speaking of is the "Top" bolt that is VERY close to the back side of the block, below the manafold, and is below the actual bell housing, it is sunk in.. Im going to go back out and see if i can acces this with a swivel socket, thanks.

I think I used a double box end wrench and a cheater bar on that one if I remember correctly. 1/4 turn at a time. A pain in the ___ to be sure.

I can't really tell what you're talking about either.

Any of the bolt locations pictured below?

Well, I got it, it was not the pictured bolt, but that one was not cool either.

The problem now is that the rear mount "At the back' of the tranmission is stuck. There's supposidly 3 bolts that hold it on. Well, 2 are out. The one that is left over is "Hitting" the mount, and keeping it from backing it out all the way.

Well if it's that stuck you can just take off the whole mount tranny side

hardest clutch job I've ever done.....

Tilt the engine forward, toward the radiator, that should help with clearance for the rear motor mount.

Try taking the whole radiator out. It frees up much needed space and also you dont have to worry about poking a whole through it.

Thanks for all the tips guys. We got it yesterday.. I got the help of a veteran clutch installer. Now, if we just could get the axles to stop leaking.. WTF!

Haha. Well, now that I've done it once, it would be alot easier.. the first time is the hardest.. Then, after that, its easier.

But yes, If you dont want to get dirty, or spend time, take it to cory. He's the man.

did you use the instruction from EvoMoto?

i just drop my tranny and t-case last weekend. i didn't have to remove the rear engine mount. i can't believe how hard it is to remove the t-case even after the tranny is out.
