Getting ready to install cams.

Ok so i had a few questions about a cam install. first off, i plan on running staggerd. 272 264. just maing sure that you must run a 272 intake and a 264 exhaust?

question 2. will i need new valve springs?

any help is appreciated.

it is definitely a good idea to run new valve springs and retainer with meth or higher boost levels

stock boost you can get away without them but it's still a good idea

as for the staggered setup I don't know

^ depends on what cams you have. as the intake & exhaust cam are not interchangable.

I know that. I have a set or 264/264 from hks. but i was curious if it is better to run 272/264's or should i stick with just 264/264.

272s or 280s for best results ! ..

264 = Low end power
272 = Mid Range
280 = Top end

all of the HKS are ok with the Stock Valve springs and retainers !

264/272 is beastly....my friend runs it in his Evo and it felt just as fast as my previous Evo 8 with 272's.

I run a staggered GSC 272/264 and really like them. Very responsive power curve

you dont need them based on boost, you need them depending how aggresive the cam is... hks and gsc and mild cams... even their 280's aren't as aggresive as the jun 272, revolver, etc....

another example.... for the evo ix the gsc s1 doesn't require new valvetrain, but the cosworth does because its more aggressive....

cheers!
