I'm quite sure you could build a very fast EVO with EBAY parts alone. In all honesty it doesn't take much to make an EVO fast.

An EBAY TBE, FMIC, IC piping, O2 Housing, Cams and a flash.

Its not crap. Every EBAY part that I've purchased has been very good. HUGE bang for buck. Personally I think many are getting ****-raped by the bigger vendors. There is no reason why a TBE should be $900.

In all honesty.... 99% don't need an aftermarket FMIC ebay or not.

well this has been fun....I guess I'd side with the label ******....kidding aside I'm stock for now but I'm completely shocked to see so many Evo owners willing to buy parts from Ebay, not that I disagree. I'm trying to be real careful about the mods I'll be making to my IX thanx to threads like these.

Not all eBay parts are crap.

Increase of power on non stock turbo. Probably increase (minimal) of power on stock turbo.

/thread.

I would think a stock turbo being pushed past 25psi it would start to become very beneficial.

If you are running 25psi then you must be on race gas or using some form of chemical intercooling. I've never seen knock on good race gas.

I'm on meth. injection on my IX (30 psi) with supporting mods and just ordered the XS Power FMIC based on your test. Damn you for posting good things about a part that cost only $200 shipped. Oh well, I still hate eBay but I am a sucker for value

Hah, not really what I was trying to accomplish but I wanted everyone to have all of the facts and make their own decision.

+1000000

I would love to see someone mod their Evo using ONLY Ebay parts - probably would be just as fast as everyone else...

'Powered by Ebay' stickers FTW!

Thank you for the test.

I do want to clear the air. there seem to be a number of poeple making refrence to companies charging way too much for product.. Lets put some things to bed here guys. The EBAY Exhuast and FMIC do not cost the same to make as an AMS piece. The underlying theme of this thread is that companies like AMS are simply making an asston of profit on our parts. I challenge any one of you to hang out with us for a day and see how we live. there isnt a single one of us that is rolling around and living the lavish lifestyle. Most of us rent apartments are live paycheck to paycheck. We can't even come close to making ebay type product for what they sell it to the public for.

The US market simply cannot make most products as cheap as china/Taiwan can. Im sure there are exceptions but in general its not very likely.

Every day we try and find ways to help bring production prices/ retail cost down, however when the option comes to sacrifice quality for cost...quality wins hands down. That is simply something we will never compromise on.

Its alot harder and more expensive to Research and develp then to research and copy.

Eric

Eric, I don't believe for one second that you guys are living a lavish lifestyle, the point of my thread was not to try and say that you guys were, and frankly it pisses me off that people are trying to say that.

My point was the testing, nothing more and nothing less. I will say this, this Ebay unit heat soaks like a ****, so if I were doing road racing or anything like that I would NOT recommend this unit AT ALL. I think the only way to use this unit in drag racing is to spray it down with water mist and give it some time to cool down, it's really not worth the money for someone like me to be running this unit to be completely honest, but I did want to see what it would do against the stock intercooler.

More on this later, but I have to go. I have some proof of my claims for the heat soak as well btw.
