Ebay FMIC testing (data log lab dyno) vs Stock FMIC
Another comment regarding the "made in america" crap. Which car company would that be, exactly? Years ago I owned a dodge stratus r/t. Anyone care to guess what it said across the top of the engine if you opened the hood?

The made in America, not made in America crap is getting old. I work in the automotive manufacturing industry IN AMERICA. We make parts for Honda, GM, Ford, Toyota, etc. Just because a car manufacturers headquarters is not in the US, doesnt mean it still doesnt have american parts on it, and of course that goes both ways.

Is the stock FMIC that bad? If a IX has a Stage 1, running 91oct, pushing 23-24 psi, would a after market unit be worht it? If so, would this ebay unit have better cooling affects over the stock with this type of set-up? I see that it flows better then stock, so I assume you would need to get re-tuned, but the main question is will it cool the air better then stock?
A porshe driver recently told me that he could not see himself driving a POS 30k evo, no matter how well it performs. Remember that we are all driving a cheap, well performing car from overseas, so please help me understand what make putting a cheaper well perfoming intercooler on our cheap evo's wrong. Let's stop being double standard for a minute and look without bias at the possible benefits of the part in question and the positive results from the original poster. Blind brand loyalty is nice but results is even nicer.
So true. Unless you have the money or just want to say, hey I bought these expensive parts, why not buy one off eGay? Sure the AMS and other intercoolers are good, but last I checked, most fmic are all made the same and w/ the same materials for the most part, am I right or am I right...?

I agree that it looks SIMILAR. Especially the eBay and the AMS Street FMIC. Internally they are NOT the same.
The AMS core, internally within the runners, has meticulously designed fins that have a specific balance between flow and cooling. These fins in effect divert the air (a restriction) but in return remove heat as it flows by. These fins are precision tuned via countless hours of flow testing and then it has to be manufactured properly. They allow massive flow and cooling with MINIMAL pressure drop. There has to be some pressure drop or else the air isn't cooled.
The eBay core does the following.
1. Purchase the AMS core
2. Takes a jig and COPIES the dimensions
3. Takes a piece of metal and bends it to look like fins and then shoves it in the Bar and Plate Chamber and is simply pressure fit.
4. Stamps the sheet metal so it can't fall out (but MIGHT under high boost).
5. Calls it an intercooler.
Those fins aren't even really attached!!! They only connect in certain parts where as every fin in the AMS cooler is attached to disbursed heat.
That is the difference, it's HUGE.
