All I know is that something was holding my car back. I only made 359whp at 27psi and at only 21psi I made 343whp. That was with a 20G-8 turbo, it was a POS. Now, I have a stock IX turbo and this FMIC. Those are the only things I plan to change about my setup.

So this is the version that doesn't have the mounting brackets. Not too shabby looking.

Yeah, I don't recomment buying this version unless you are willing to come up with a custom mounting solution, it is not a direct bolt up.

I have not had a chance to put the FMIC on but with my butt dyno there is a difference between the 20G-8 and EVO IX turbo. The IX turbo pulls harder and sooner with less boost.

I'm sure we are seriously beating this horse all 9 of his lives, but from what I can figure out, ebay intercoolers are only good for short jaunts and not long track events. Hence the reason it has been stated it heat soaks easily. It might flow 80% more than stock, but what's the point of all that air going through if it's hot *** air? Rhetorical question.

Wouldn't methanol cool this charge to keep it more consistent?

well first of if your car is on the dyno after a couple of pulls your fmic is going to be hot. ex. I had a srt-4 with a agp race fmic and it would get hot as **** after a couple of pulls and its one of the highest recommend fmic's out there lists at like $800.00 bucks

Now I just bought my tbe on ebay for $340 shipped and guess what the welds are good fitment is good and it sounds great, the same people i bought my exhaust from are selling a fmic for like $289 shipping and I gotta tell ya it looks pretty good and i havent see this unit metioned on the forums yet.

Real nice numbers for your mods

This is why I believe that the bull sh*t 20G-8 was holding me back. I would like to see what you would put down with a 9 turbo and alky injection.

Yes methanol would cool the charge air, but methanol was used WITH the stock intercooler as well.

Some of these arguers here completely contradict themselves horribly!! How can you say you wouldn't buy Non-American?? Your car is Non-American to start with.....I have to agree with the initial argument....I had a 10psi prelude ebay FMIC....never had a problem with it....talking about keeping around 500+ dollars in my pocket for an ebay cooler is fine with me...spend it elsewhere.....nice post!!!

I can't get myself to buy something off of ebay for my 30K Evo. I don't care how well it works.

A porshe driver recently told me that he could not see himself driving a POS 30k evo, no matter how well it performs. Remember that we are all driving a cheap, well performing car from overseas, so please help me understand what make putting a cheaper well perfoming intercooler on our cheap evo's wrong. Let's stop being double standard for a minute and look without bias at the possible benefits of the part in question and the positive results from the original poster. Blind brand loyalty is nice but results is even nicer.
