Just picked up an IX need some advice

If anyone has some time to read through this and give me some newb advice that'd be great.

I just picked up a used IX... Car runs fine but a little different than my 03 Evo and I believe it is because of the VTA bov. The car has the injen upper/lower IC pipe kit with a VTA bov. I want to get rid of the VTA and have it recirc. like my 03 did, I think it would be better for the car overall

Check these two photos of where the BOV is welded on..

Photo 1 - Photo 2

Its an hks ssq bov and I think where it is mounted, it's going to be tough to make the recirc. kit work/fit? Does anyone have experience with this?

I'm thinking I should just buy new IC piping and get the bov re-welded in a location where the recirc. kit can fit properly - or perhaps return it to stock? Or does anyone know if it is possible to buy only the lower injen IC pipe, or would other brands of lower IC pipes i.e. the AMS one fit? I'm not sure on this.

Appreciate it

Put the stock upper pipe back on and use a stock or forge diverter valve. If you already have the injen lower pipe just leave it you can mix and match the upper and lower pipes because the lower is by itself on the turbo side (passenger side of car) and upper is on the oppsite side so removing one want hurt the other.

Return to the stock IC piping and stock aluminum DV, then sell the bling and use the cash to get mods that actually help.

Did you guys see where the BOV is welded on? Is that considered the upper IC pipe? and the lower is on the passenger side I guess?

I'm trying to figure out which I need to replace and what parts I need to order *today*

So I think it would be easier to order the one pipe I need and get the forge DV welded on - would that be cheapest option? or just re-use the HKS BOV and get the recirc. kit?

forgive my newbie ness I just dont want to order the wrong parts. So in the photos the pipe with the BOV welded on is the upper IC pipe?

So if I ordered an UPPER IC Pipe + forge dv / recirc. kit that would get rid of the pipe in the picture as well as the HKS BOV, correct?

Any recommendations on where I could order these two things from - I need this stuff delivered by this weekend. I'm in Seattle... feel free to PM me.

thanks

It's attached to the upper intercooler pipe. I'd buy the following:

- OEM upper IC pipe

- OEM air filter box

- OEM Evo IX diverter valve

- This hard intake pipe from Dejon. I'd get it in black, not silver.

- All the necessary hoses and couplers.

Then, take all that shiny stuff that used to be on your car and sell it to someone on here that's looking for show, not go. There's plenty of them.

Your car drives different because not only are you venting to atmosphere, but you're probably messing up the air that you DO meter by having that air filter on it. I'd assume the car isn't tuned. Did they really use what appears to be a universal exhaust hanger to mount that intake pipe to the battery bracket?

That's good to hear. I'm sure you guys steered him in the right direction.

Something I've always liked about Buschur Racing: High power gains for minimal pricing while still looking good. It might not be the most blinging stuff out there, but who tracks a H3 Hummer with 26 inch spinners, anyway?
