I disagree, the only reason to go with hard pipes is not the fact that the eliminate bends, air actually flows better over the hard surface for one. Another reason is that the stock rubber pipes actually flex under boost. In other words, hard curvy pipes will make power over stock, but not nearly as much as Buschur or others.

Stock < Dejon < Injen < Buschur

Thanks for the feedback!

I will consider a mini battery and Buschur... if not, then Injen may have to do.

If I were you I'd get the Injen UICP, which would mount right up to the Deluxe FMIC and you would not have to replace the battery. Now, my recommendation would be to get Buschur's UICP, with the mini battery and get the Deluxe core if you couldn't get the Race care! The Race FMIC is a mod you would install and never have to worry about the intercooler again! Point blank, no matter how stock or how tough you make your EVO, the Race FMIC would be able to handle all mods and you would just be done with it!!

Don't forget that going to a mini battery, like the one Buschur sells, takes 20lbs off of the car as well!

true - another reason I got nisei uicp was to save weight from the small battery to balance out weight gain from an upgraded intercooler.

Alibi: You are correct air flows over a smooth surface much better, however have you looked inside the soft IC Pipes, they are extremely smooth. So IMO no difference there.

The fact that harder pipes do not flex are a +1, however that creates very little gain.

Now I do not claim to be an expert, but what I am typing is information that does come from the experts!
