Swapping out final gear...
I am running a 4.11 final drive tranny done by Shep in my car. I did it to get a longer 2nd gear for autox. (74mph at 8000 rpm). As for it hurting drag racing, I am not so convinced of that. At englishtown this past weekend, I ran the car in the stock appearing turbo class, and with the taller gear, the car still ran 12.0 and trapped at 118mph even with really high heat and humidity, and pulling timing from that. It is a bit trickier to get off the line though. There seems to be a smaller window for the sweet spot on launching the car. Just my .02

Personally, a longer 4th (like the 03-05 models) and/or a shorter 5th gear would probably be fine for me but I don't think that's an option.
