I suspect that the rom was unknown and the previous tuner inherited it from another definition file and it screwed up the knock filters. I took the maps home later that night and did side by side comparisons where I saw that load cells were shifted out of place uniformly likely caused by this inherit.

He came in with over a half tank of 93 from what I recall and even at 24psi on 93 and decent timing, the knocksums would not go over 2 and only at 2500-3500rpms when this turbo is not spooled until 5000rpms.

We hit about 28-29psi and I called it at that point as the effective octane was likely about 100 or so with so much 93 in the tank. Couple that with unresponsive knock filters and as much as I would have like to push the limits, this gentleman surely would like to be able to drive it home, free from engine problems.

As I stated, I reviewed the knock filters maps when I returned and repaired them. Sent them back for upload and instantly the knocksum characteristics changed.

I would enjoy tuning it again on C16 without the 6-7 gallons of pump in the tank and knock filters back to stock like they should have been all along..

Yes Scott was Top notch and me being down on power does not reflect his tune. The power reflects the previous shop that tuned it. In this situation there are a few things I could have done differently and haveing more C16 or less 93 would have been one of them. I am still in the process of fixing things as Scott and I are sending logs and maps back and forth. I will be logging my new map on pump gas today on my way to work. You should have those in your email shortly Scott! Thanks for all your time and effort this is one hell of a place to get a tune and excelent customer service!!!!!!!!!!!

Why didn't you just drain the tank? It's two bolts and wouldn't have taken very long.

ya those are pretty bad numbers and running a 35r on a stock motor besides the cam isnt always the greatest idea.

My best friends Evo makes 550whp on a dynojet @ 28psi w/ C16 on his RnR 35r kit and on pump he does 440whp with 90 octane gas @ 21/22psi.

My car @ 15psi makes 350whp & 300 torque on 90 octane, with my RnR GT35r kit I'm waiting to get it properly tuned, as I recently upgraded from a GT30r to the GT35r & changed my cams...I should know the real power by 2nd week of June or so.

Sent you a PM...check it out.

i'm sure there are many RnR turbo's putting down the proper 35R numbers, but there are ones out there that do not. my RnR 30R made 330 awhp on AMS's dynojet. while a friends, bttkcooled's RnR 35R made 333 awhp on buschur's mustang dyno. 93 oct for both cars.

i went through boost leak test, compression test, checked the plugs....anything AMS could come up with. but at the end of the day, i'm stuck with a schitty RnR turbo. it's a sad reality

You need those Cam gears too don't forget and possible some more aggressive cams.
Also an Ignition Amp.

The wrong map definition was used by the guys previous tuner which screwed up the knock filters. They were NOT intentially changed.

cam gears will help so would a clutch i am trying to rule out any serious problems. the shop that installed the turbo left the car leaking oil from the stock turbo bracket and i fear it could gave caused damage as i cant stop the ****in leak and neather can they.
