Can I achieve 400 whp on pump with an evo green?
I'm ordering gsc s1 cams in about a week and a half. I want a bigger turbo down the road *and 400whp on pump* I get 93 octane in my area and don't fill up with anything but that. I want to safely achieve 400 whp on pump gas. I want the smallest turbo to do so. I don't want to run race gas to get it, and I'm not a fan of meth. I think this is possible? Maybe some of you gurus can help out. Thanks a bunch!
You should get a tune and baseline your car so that you'll have a reference before you start modding or switching turbos. In my wn case, I would be happy with 380 from the Green @ 21 PSI, as I think that my own personal car is a bit of an underachiever.
^^^ Curious to see how much Birdie gains by adding the AMS VSR to the Green... I really didn't want to spend that kind of money, though...
I am pleased with the S1's, SOTP is like this: before, my IX had a nice, fun low-end torque spike, followed by a tapering off of mid and top end whp, leaving you wanting more... After S1's, I notice that after my torque spike, all is not lost - there is still good pulling power all the way to about 7k rpm. I have to say that these cams feel like they add power smoothly throughout the entire power band - similar to what a set of 272's should do.
BACK on topic: Since my IX is a daily driver, I don't want to use AEM EMS - to hit 400whp, I am considering a GM Maf - some members on here think that a good amount of the difference in power between stock ECU and EMS (20whp), could be made up using a different MAF setup...

Hmmmmm 20 whp from having an ems? That kinda sucks, for me, cuz I don't feel like dropping over a grand to gain 20 whp and have other cool features. I really wanted to keep the stock ecu because this car is my daily driver. Hell I could live with 380 whp. i'm getting the s1s, o2 housing and either porting the stock mani or getting a tubular one. I also thought about the 10.5 hotside for the meantime *I have an 03* After these mods were accomplished I was gonna get a tune of some sorts, probably a mail in flash. I'll get my car dynoed after these mods to see what I'm playing with, then save up for some injectors and the green, and see where we're at!
Oh also, I'll have to research this maf setup you're talking about. Couldn't be too expensive to pulloff, course I'm sure that tuning would have to be involved.

what type of dyno were tested/tuned on? if all the supporting mods are there, 400 whp on 93 oct, dyno'd on a dj should be possible.
i made over 360 on 91 oct while on a dj dyno with a 16g.
400 on 93 oct, w/fp-grn should be obtainable

A bit off topic ,but, I ran a 3" MAF w/translator on my Buick GN. In fact it was a Translator Plus which allowed you to just add or pull timing by flicking some little switches on the translator. Let me know if you should go with a GM MAF setup. The GM MAFS have better resolution at the higher flow levels and can even be run w/o the honeycomb.

4 sure
Haha thats good. I can't wait now! lol I still haven't researched this gm maf thing yet. I've been at the lake all weekend, gotta get caught up on this haha. I'm just waiting on the new credit card and then the cams will be ordered, along with probably a few other doo dads, then I just have to wait for the turbo.
I think its possible, When i got my car tuned by jestr it was pushing 355 WHP and 365 FT TQ @26lbs of boost on 93oct. The mods that i had were MBC, TBE, K&N drop in filter, Ams LICP, and GSC S1 Cams which was dyno tuned my jestr. If you go with the green you will be very close to 400WHP.
