Not really. IXs got MIVEC and VIIIs doesnt. So that means, if u put the same cams on both cars, the IXs will still make more power than the VIIIs. Stock for stock, the IXs already makes more hp and tq @ the factory than the VIIIs.

STOCK CAMS =-)

i'm in the process of retuning a local ams 50trim that i had previously tuned before. just installing the cams the car feels much more peppy, i just altered the map a bit since i didnt have time for a full tune and its pulling much harder.. well see tomorrow or monday how the results for those turn out.. If we had results like that on a stock turbo that would be fantastic, i'm still not convinced or reccomended them to people who ask. If you want to buy them go for it. i'm not going to say no, i'm just giving my .02

Cheers!

See, for me to keep up with a IX, I need 272s and the IX turbo, "stock for stock" (I know that the IX owner wouldnt say i'm stock if I got some 272s) . But once they get cams too, they'll be, like, sayonara to me.

As for the IX cams, lots (if not, most) people I've seen using cams lately (or mostly) are the cosworths more than the GSCs.

Oh ok. Gotcha

A little bit off topic: Now that u mentioned the GSCs, I heard their 272s are almost the same as the HKS 272s? Is it true?

IX's have better cooling do to revised oil/water passages in the block, hence better knock resistance, mivec and more maps in the ECU.

What if u put a IX head on a VIII block, (along with mivec ecu). Will the VIII make as much power as the IX side by side?

sure, but thats not where the power comes from... think about it...

all of these companies are trying to make great cams for the stock turbo and its just not happening. The leads me to believe the ix's already have great cams.

Thats just my guess, i havent ripped the motor apart and i havent spend 10000 hours on a dyno.

I have a job where im sitting for 9-11 hours a day doing absolutly nothing except watching my employees work. (new busines =-p)

needless to say, i read alot lol

Cheers!

My theory for the IX's not making as substantial gains over the VIII's with cams is because of MIVEC's effects on the intake cam - it's already close to "perfect" like you said.

However, I think the addition of a 272 or 280 exhaust cam has been shown to make some power on the IX's. I just think that aftermarket intake cams aren't going to make that much of a difference on the IX's...

I would like to see back-to-back dyno testing of a cammed IX -vs- an exhaust cammed-only IX... probably little difference, if any.

and yes, I have the GCS S1's on my IX... just in case
