what goes bang first????

just wondering, for all you guys running MASSIVE power, whats the first component to go on a WELL built 4g63??? has anyone had any problems with blowing water?? anyone tried a 6bolt per cylinder setup (or is this even needed)?? how strong is the lower half of the block around the mains??

and finally whats the most "someone" could get out of one of these units (asuming you can get all the fuel and air you wanted into the engine)???

thanks Chris.

also i "heard" 1500bhp being shot around for what the 4G63 has made. seams a bit high to me (thats what race supras are getting).

thanks chris.

Dont quote me 100% but I believe AMS is making around a 1000 hp and they have one of the best setups that ive seen so ask them they could probably help you alot. From my knowledge with DSM's it seems like the transmissions tend to give out before anything else does, but im not sure with the EVO's. My $.02

thanks amnbrueckner!

i have seen AMS's and Buschurs setups and they are all running MASSIVE power. just wondering when their stuff starts to go BANG and if there is anything that can make even their engines hold out better.

thanks again.

Chris.

Ive seen some videos of AMS's drag car coming off the line and it looks scary. Hopefully one of them will see this thread and post up some advice, cause im not that knowledgeable about this specific topic.

first thing i would say goes is that silly stock clutch then if you are a good driver eventually the t case unless you have an 05 and up with the acd havent heard of any problems with those. stock blocks are good for like 450 500 whp befor they start breaking stuff then it becoms a tranny issue i would say boung to break a gear or destroy a syncro but thats my take

axels and tranny parts are the first to go if its a well built car, such as AMS. IIRC, they have yet to have a motor go KA-BLUEY! but thats for a well built car, alot of the ******* on here have grenaded every part of a motor due to poor builds.

It's not the engine is usually the drivetrain. How many passes do you think a high 8 second EVO can make before the clutch is gone? Let's say these are Exedy Triples or Tilton twin Carbons 3k-4k clutches try 15-20 then it's change out time again.

Always seems the drivetrain is the first for any manufacturer. Typically, the motor is built and tuned so well, they tend to outlast the car itself. 2 weak points I see.. the Tcase and driveshaft.

Currently, the most powerful 4g63 is Shep's Talon. Hes in the mid 7's with the unibody still! Properly built, I imagine the most any 4 cylinder (under 2.5l) will make, is 1500bhp.

Thats with a: tons of boost, one badass built vehicle, and a wicked tuner.

Things that go bammmm:

1.) Your wallet
2.) IC hoses
3.) Clutch
4.) TC, rear diff, driveshaft, axles

AMS has cleared 1000 whp with more than one car. Theoretically that's more than 1200 bhp. Any way you look at it, it's completely amazing.

Maybe, maybe not.

Brent Rau, using motors from Magnus Motorsports, ran 7.10 with his "smaller turbo" 4g63 in the first NHRA race of the season. Estimated 1400 HP now, more to come.

So are T-cases that prone to going out on the 03's? Im looking into some EVO 8's and about to buy. This T-case drama is making me shiver with fear when buying an 03.

I was not aware. It so happens I was browsing Shep's site and seen the most recent vid (it was a 7.70 I believe).
