Is it ok to extend o2 sensor wires?

I have the innovate xd16 with lc1. I want to keep the lc1 inside of my car. is ok to extend the wires from the o2 sensor? I called innovate and they said not to because the sensor will pick up too much engine noise. How would it do that? Its just a o2 sensor not a knock sensor.

I just want to make sure before I cut the wires.

Use shielded cable and you should be fine. Find some that looks like it is made like the wire that comes with the wideband. I seriously doubt you will pick up enough "noise" to throw the wideband off enough to worry about.

What if I extended it longer say 4 foot?

Why do you have to extend the wires, anyway? I have an LC-1, SSi4, TWO xd-16s and everything went in fine without needing any extra length. Where are you trying to route the wires that you need more length?

Im running it through the hole by the center console on the passenger side. But im running the o2 in the front sensor spot. So im running it over the top of the valve cover like the stock sensor does.

As long as you use the same gauge or larger wire and make clean splices or crimps, you're okay to do whatever you want. It's only an O2 Sensor.

Why don't you save yourself some trouble and just get a bung welded on your downpipe right by the grommet. Any exhaust shop will do it for about $20 or less.

Moving the O2 sensor a couple feet is no big deal, just absolutely make sure you are using the same gauge wiring otherwise there will be a different amount of resistance and the signal will be innacurate.
