Why waste money? I second the carillo rods. Tomei is overpriced JDM ricer bling.

Tomei has a drag skyline running around 1100-1200 HP and their rods hold up to that. They make most of their parts all themself and they definately aren't a ricer tuner

No to re-open a old thread or anything but when I was working for VIVID RACING we got a set of EAGLE rods directly from eagle, when they came in they had TOMEI stamped into the sides, I called EAGLE and they said that tomei has their rods made at the same place as eagle just a different stamp...

Tomei rods are just eagle rods sorry

I too have heard that Tomei rods are manufactured in China. It wouldn't surprise me if they shared a manufacturer with Eagle.

If you're looking to buy a quality connecting rod, go to a connecting rod manufacturer!!! Many people make the mistake of buying a specific brand, they never stop to think that the products may be outsourced then re-labeled.

I recommend Carrillo rods because they are a dedicated connecting rod manufacturer that has control over the entire manufacturing process including materials/forging, engineering, manufacturing and inspection. All their rods are made in house in San Clemente, CA. Other companies, such as Eagle (and most likely Tomei) do not make connecting rods in-house.

It costs a lot of money to manufacture connecting rods, pistons, cams and other engine parts in house. Do you really think all these companies buy all the equipment for each of the components they are selling? The answer is no.

Carrillo, Oliver, Pauter, Dyers and Arrow all make their rods in house. Any of these companies can make a good rod.
