For some reason my car has been doing this surging during WOT and half throttle. I was tuned but added some mods since then and it hasnt ran that great since i added mods so im getting ready for a custom from Al. Anyway i did go from a greddy type S to a turbosmart dual port bov and the surging got alot worse. i dont even know if it was to noticiable before but now its ridiculous. it feels like im hitting a 100mph head wind or something, the car just stops going and then itll come back a lil and then surge again. could it be the bov creeping open or my tune? Im borrowing a MR bov from a buddy this week to see if it goes away but im tryin to see if anyone can help diagnose my prob. thanks alot

 

Sounds like fuel cut to me.

 

but doesnt fuel cut have that abrupt cut off like the motor cuts off for a split second and then comes back on? ive had that happen a while back and this doesnt feel lke that at all. i dont have a walbro installed yet, thats happening wednesday but i dont thikn its fuel cut. if it is then at least itll all be fixed once i get the walbro installed and retuned by Al

 

so whats happening to ur car? it shuts of and comes back on?? how are ur battery connections? make sure there on good and tight. the only other thing i can think of is fuel cut liike scotta said. but gl man keep us updated on the problem

 

its not cutting off at all its surging, ill coming into boost and ill punch it and itll go and it feels like im driving into a stong head wind and its holding the car back. basically like the car is bogging and then coming back and then bogging again. its really wierd. i was thinkin it was the bov i just installed creeping open and leaking boost but i dont know if a boost leak would feel like that. o and nice torque numbers evoracingstar, very impressive. im actually waiting on al from dynoflash to give me a call to setup a street tune. hopefully ill be runnign right after that

 

thanks man i was pretty happy with the numbers special in the weather lol it was like 95 to like 100 out so hot! trying to think what could cause this problem i dont think it would be ur bov. possibly a boost leak but not quite sure.

 

is ur front mount installed on ur car?? wen has this start doing this after the installation?

 

the front mount has been on there since the winter so its def not that. im clueless though man.

mine sounds kinda like that but it doesnt just go away it happens more than it doesnt happen. the majority of the time its bogging but the more i read it sounds like it could be pulling timing. that makes sense and the other thing that got me thinkin is that the guys in that thread said it happened when it got hot out and it just started getting really hot here over the last 3 weeks. and i noticed it alot morelately and ironically i got that bov so thats why im accusing that lol but when i meet up with al i should get it taken care of. thanks for the help guys, anyone have more ideas throw them my way lol

 

well, mine started out as what seemed like a misfire. it would only happen around 4K at WOT. it progressively got worse and now it sputters really bad whenever i go above half throttle. and when its not sputtering, it has the occasional "hiccup" as the RPMs climb.

what else is weird is a lot of evo owners describe almost the same exact problem and think it has something to do with the turbo or boost, whereas i have no turbo and experience the same issues.

 

well this morning i was in 4th gear and it was alot colder here, around 55 and i didnt even come near 20psi and i hit some sort of fuel cut or boost cut. probably fuel cut but i dont get how since i was barely past 15psi. this is getting on my nerves. i hope Al calls me soon so he can log and tune this hting. i cant even get on it.

 

i know what youre saying. i feel the same way. i cant even get past half throttle without it sputtering miserably. mines goin in the shop tomorrow to see if they can figure it out.
