My car idles at 2000 RPM

i was driving and was getting into boost when all of a sudden i heard a pop n then the car stalled. i pulled over and checked for a loose coupling or something. everything seemed fine until i turned the car back on. it was idling at 2000 rpm and surging. car still drives fine n hits boost but just idles high.

a DTC later set for High Idle Detected. im pretty sure its my Idle Air Control Valve thats broken. but i was wondering if anyone has done anything to fix this problem without replcing the sensor. its $350 new from mitsubishi and a dealer only part. is there any way i can take it off and block it off? any ideas will be great. is there anything else i should check for?

Before you go assuming anything, make sure you double and triple check all hoses and couplings, jack your car up and look at the LICP, and the UICP, and especially the intake pipe. Try to listen for a hissing sound, (vacuum leak).

Woah! Wtf? This is kind of rare. Usually nothing on the intake manifold gets hot enough to melt anything, I wonder if something is wrong with your engine? What mods have you done so far?

I've heard of this happening. A guy who was running meth here melted his too! That's what I was gonna suggest before you figured it out.

i want to bump this up, is there a fix for guys running meth or one made with different material (flame proof LOL). i just ruin my second one @ the track last night. i really dont feel like spending 300 every 2 months for a sensor. I did a quick fix by closing the idle screw all the way, but it still hangs here and there.
