Well the price from Garrett should be pretty close to the same...but Geoff said it was one of the only ones he has seen. So supply/demand....I would think the 1.06 divided might be someplace in the .8x a/r on a undived...Like I said Im not for sure...Im no expert. I would like to see them back to back on the dyno. Where is Geoff when we need him LOL. Call him and ask for the part number.

The owner/engineer over there Peter really seems to have come up with an incredibly innovative wastegate design.
Geoff,

I have seen and heard of synapse wastegates. They are some baddass wastegates, the sound is amazing and the quality is first class. Would it be possible to use their 40 or 50mm wastegates with your kit?

I have one of the 1.06 housings on my car and they are hard to find - you just have to know where to look . I does delay the boost a bit ~ 200rpm from the .78, but it does pick up the top end after some tuning. Haven't been back to the dyno with the car in it's current form , but I will soon.

I just gotta ask What "valve" is likely to "smash into the turbine wheel"? I've seen a few defunct turbos from oil pressure problems, but "valve smashing into the turbine wheel" is quite a ways further down on the turbo damage problem list, I'd think...

However, I'd wholeheartedly agree that "off the shelf" configuration turbos are much easier to source if you need a quick replacement than one that has a lot of custom work associated with making it.

Here are a few pics to show the difference in size between the .78 and 1.06 housings
