Do you mean is it safe? If so, the answer is yes. All of the HKS cams can be used on the stock valvetrain.

dont encourage him...i thought you had to upgrade retainers and valves for pretty much any cam with a lift of 280?

btw, 280's will ultimately do you no good and a really ****ty idle on a practically stock motor, unless you plan on big turbo YOU DONT NEED 280s but its your money...have fun

Errr........... not really. I have run HKS 280 with stock valve train and stock turbo with no problem. Never stalled nor notice any turbo lag. A good tune is recommended though. Not much difference from a 272, just with bigger *****. It would be better if he plans of upgrading later.

FWIW, all HKS cams have the same lift specs. Only the duration (e.g. 280) differs.

I didnt give any encouragement to do anything. You have to upgrade the valvetrain for high LIFT cams. 280 is the advertised DURATION. HKS cams have mild lift. Its the cams like Revolver, Tomei, JUNs that have high lift and that is when you need the upgraded valvetrain. 280s (HKS) can be used on stock turbo, but they really dont make any more power than 272s from what Ive seen. Im sure a vendor with overstock of them will tell you differently though
