If JAM is going to build the block up, you can't go wrong. It will be a helluva lot stronger than stock!! It looks like you lucked out on this used Evo, perhaps the spun bearing is a blessing in disguise...

I honestly don't think that the dealer will want to go with a performance block.
Since they will probably be going with there warranty company to pay for the OEM short block.

If i could believe me i would go with a built block, i might be able to make an offer to them tomorrow but who knows what they would say. I guess it wont hurt to ask.

I will have to call CBRD and see how much JAM would charge for a built short block.

who buys a used race car you know that the previose owner was slaming the pedal to the metal, especially those last two weeks when he was about to sell it

anyways good luck and i hope the dealer hooks you up and does the right thing

And wait....

I just got a brand new motor/tranny and still paid less then KBB or NADA valve.

Wouldnt u say i sorta maid out, yea it sucks i have to wait 1 more week..
but i think a brand new motor is worth waiting a week.

who knows maybe i can even get them to ge a AMS or JAM built Short block.

i think of it like this...

any evo i buy.. will be beat..

So why not take the opportunity to get a evo at the price i did.. with a brand new motor/tranny?

If i go and get my money back and look for something else.. it will probably also be beat.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I bought mine. I didn't care if it was beat up or not, because I am use to DSM's (lol). Luckily my engine turned out to be perfect.

Damit.. i shouldnt have IMed Sonicofadz... haha

Talking to him made me want a 2.3 stageIII JAM short block now.

If the garage agrees to it, id just have to fork out 700.00 and ill have a 850hp+ built block.

I would highly suggest that when you get the car back to go to CRBD. Not only just to check the car out mechanically but also to check the current tune on the ECU to make sure it is safe. If there is a bad tune on the ECU and you are getting lots of knock or detonation that can def. do some damage. Including spinning a bearing. All in all I think you made out ok, a new engine and tranny not bad, plus the car looks clean. When the car is at CRBD i would have them change all the fluids in the car tranny, engine, tcase and rear diff that way you know all the right fluid is in the car. Good luck and enjoy your evo.

yea thats not a bad idea at all, i am going to call CBRD again tomorrow to talk to them about the JAM stroker. And then talk to them about checking the tune and other things.

Just got back from CBRD. words cant explain how nice that place is and how great chad is. Awesome advice and great knowledge.

He said he was a big fan of the 2.3 Jam short blocks

I figured a goal of about 350-400awhp is more then enough. And id be super happy with that.

The Jam stageI 2.3 short block is only 300.00 more then the OEM. and comes with.

*2.4 Forged Steel Crankshaft
*Wiseco forged pistons, 8.74-1 cr
*Eagle H-Beam Conn Rods w/ARP bolts
*ARP main studs
*ACL perf coated rod & main brgs
*ACL perf coated shaft brgs

I called the dealer and they are willing to let me get the JAM block instead. He was pretty cool with it.

I plan on going to the dealer and bringing all of the info about the different stages and stuff.

So i am pretty excited

The stageII comes with Oilver rods and is about 200 bucks more.

Which isnt alot more for better rods.
So maybe we will do the StageII

Tomorrow i will give the dealer the dumbs up on which stage i pick.
And then they will get the block taken out of the car.

I will hand deliever it to JAM and they said 2 week turn around.
Which is pretty good.
