The 20-50W would have caused the extra tick.

Ive change from Motul to RP 10-40W and have the least tick Ive had since the car was new. Im not a cheap **** when it comes to my car, but the fact its half the price of Motul (here in NZ) helps.

ran a search checked this thread and i need some help! i bought my car with 44,000 miles on it and its modded. its got after market cams. im not sure which ones but you can clearly hear it and there are different cam gears etc. i am relatively new to evos also and i just changed my oil yesterday at 47,000 miles. i used mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 motor oil. and i used a k&n oil filter. now i have ticking coming from my valve cover area which was never noticeable before. one thing i did notice was the k&n oil filter was noticeably smaller than the one that was on(no name). is it the filter?, is it the 5w-30 oil? help!

did you bleed the lifters?
what color was the oil that you drained? How long had it been in there?

you will have to take the valve cover off anyway to get to the lifters, take a pic under your valve cover and show us

I think its may be the K&N Filter. Both you and dustin of sbr suffer from tick and, both of you have a k&n filter. Maybe that could be something ? Like some said in the beginning about aftermarket ones being to restrictive.

i didnt bleed the lifters. i bought the car that had aftermarket cams and i never had this problem. like i stated before i bought the car with 44,000 miles this was my first oil change with it at 47,000 miles. i checked the oil when i bought it and it was clean like it was just changed, and when i changed it yesterday naturally it was dirty
