hey farve, i should have reworded myself, mitsubishi usa doesnt know the whole layout of the evolution with it being a new car and all, (even though the motor is closely related/the same as the DSM's) which they do have knowledge of but for me at the dealerships that i have taken my car to, i have dealt with technicians that know little to nothing about my car which is stressing me out . i was a little too general about my statement earlier. yea i read it and it sounded stupid.
..oh wel enough explaining myself....

I agree it's a boost leak.
Check all the IC hoses. They are all clamped on so you should grab them and pull to make sure they are tight.
Make sure the vaccum hoses look good, especially for wastegate and boost controller.
Try removing the DV hose temporarily that foes to the turbo inlet and plug the turbo inlet but leave the hose open. This way you can hear the blow off. Drive it and see if it is blowing off when the pressure drops.

On a wild guess, I would try splitting it either into an airflow or ignition problem. By the way you describe a misfire I would guess ignition. Check your ign coils and sparks. I had damp sparks which caused a backfire /misfire kind of effect once a certian rpm get hit. It was damp cos i tried to wash the cam cover with a presure hose :P Oh the things i did when i was young....

I had a similar problem in my mercedes, when i accelerated it started jerking two or three times. Checked it with my scanner, and just replaced mas sensor and the problem was gone. Youre probably runnin' rich.
What are your mods

I haven't heard any real awkward noises. Of course my head is violently jerking back and forth when the problem occurs, so maybe I missed something. Supposedly, the dealer checked the hoses and found no problems with them. I'll mention to him what you have told me, maybe it could be ignition. He believed I was runing rich as well. Also, he said I might have developed carbon in the cylinder.

sounds like your clutch if the car is shaking.

Check for boost leaks though, I would replace every intercooler hose and make sure its reattched tight.

I had a boost leak where the blow off valve dumps back into the intake! It would bleed off 5psi by redline, I tightened that up, and everything was back to normal.

I've removed and checked mine three times - there were no rips or tears and everthing was tight and sealed. It still sounds just like a intercooler hose blowing off. It just crawls up in RPM once it hits 5400 - hear a loud suction noise and boost quickly drops. If anyone wants to experiment...take off your intake hose and try to move the compressor turbine is movable. Mine slightly moves up and down when I push on it.

Boostedwrx: was the leak very loud and could you reach full boost before it started to leak? -Zach

press the clutch before you release the gas when shifting, it will make some smooth shifting. same thing happened with the dealer, said he drives a corvette but can hardly shift the evo properly making some jerky back and forth movement every shift, not a misfire mind you but poor technique in shifting.

Do you have any mods?
It could be the BOV opening up but kind of hard to hear if it is still stock.

It isn't the bov. I have a greddy from Pruven Performance that I didn't install yet because I have this problem. I tested the Pruven bov and it still did the same exact thing.

Good grief guys, you are scaring me now.... I'm at the 6.5K mile stage already, so far so good, but I hate to hear of these kinds of problems..... I had some reluctance to go because of their reputation in some circles (poor reliability). I hope I did not amke a mistake buying the EVO.....
