My friend's brother works for HKS and during the IAS show I had a chance to ask him about the kit since they had it on display there. He explained to me that the kit is a setup kit originally made for the Evo 5-7 meaning it needs other parts fabbed for it to make it complete (downpipe and intercooler hot pipe). He also explained to me the reason they didn't make a complete kit in Japan was because the IC pipes and downpipes are different for certain generations of the evo and they wanted it to be available for most of the Evos.

Anyway he said for the US Evolution the AC bracket needs to be slight shaved like a few mm, and that a IC pipe, Downpipe and intake pipe need to be fabricated. There also is the option to buy the kit without the turbo, that's something Im considering cuz I think they the GT3037S might be to big for what I'm planning.

The outside is identical. it has been machined out to fit the larger compressor wheel on top of the Texas Monster Thrust bearings.
Unless you remove the intake tube off the compressor housing and you look at the compressor wheel you wouldn't know. The exhaust note may be affected by the addition of the upgraded turbo not for sure though.

South Florida Performance, they own, and I think they are better then Dynamic Turbo for DSM related stuff. They are south of UM, keep heading south on US1 and they are down past the falls, great shop, they can do anything you need them too.

Chack them Out, I brought my car there
agrees 200% thats where i brought mine as well

South Florida Performance kicks A$$... www.sfp.net

Thanks for the nice comments guys. We try our best. Designmanfx I got those highway shots to give ya from the trip to the show. Wait till you see what we're doing to John's black evo that's here. You're gonna freak. Also I went to Kendall Mitsu last night and checked out the evo's. I talked to a sales guy and I'm really really tempted. If I could sell my white civic I'd do one in a heartbeat. BTW: They have 15 of them on the lot right now. Just no one buy the white one. I want it

forget the 3037....

Check out the various gt40 garrett setups...

www.turboperformance.net etc...

A gt40 garrett ballbearing is a sweet setup and flows more air besides. It spools quick too.

I looked at rmr's setup as I live 1/2 hour from them and it is nice but I will take a cast iron custom manifold if you please! Stainless cracks and for the wad they want I can get a aem computer for the same money.

Check out the post on adding an avo intercooler... I saw one on the car dynoed at 407 and we had not even cranked up the boost yet!

Make your own mind up but get informed first

Mark

theres a shop in Houston Turbochargers.com that makes an upgrade that appears to be stock as far the outside appearance so that way when you take it in for service it won't void your warranty. the compressor wheel is 50% larger and the contour of the housing has been cut to accomodate the larger wheel. It has reverse rotation Texas Monster thrust bearings. and its only 825.00w/core.
with those 3037 sounds great but wow its a lot of $. and then your warranty is void.

This upgrade sounds like a good option, has anyone had one done?
If so what sort of gains were made over the standard turbo

Sorry mmlvmm i was talking about the turbo upgrade from turbo chargers .com.
I was interested in upgrading the standard turbo, but was a little unsure to what sort of gains could be acheived from the larger compressor wheel.
I have e-mailed turbocharger.com but they were a little vauge to what could be expected.

turbo upgrade...

Check out turbonetics- they quoted me 4-5 hundred for upgrading internals in stock + specific power increases depending what you ordered...

I say toss the stocker a gt40 installed right under the stock heat shield looks stock. Besides you don't really think that warranty is relevant did you!
