Buschur tested

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...cooler+buschur

Buschur already tested them, the man settles it by saying-

"So in summary the intercooler with 2 more psi boost made 10 less whp than our Race FMIC at that is at big HP levels. The problem is the intercooler is NOT EFFICIENT AT REMOVING HEAT. Which is what it is there for. I am betting the stock FMIC is not much worse than this. An increase of 59.4 degrees is absolutely HUGE in a single gear pull. On a summer day or road race/autocross situation this intercooler would absolutely SUCK.

Bottom line is, you get what you pay for and buying one of these I do not think is a good investment of your money."

yeah they did runs before installing the ebay intercooler, i wonder why they didnt test the ebay one first. Obviously they temp would be higher after they already beat it up. DOnt always believe what you hear. I bet if these were made and presented to a good company than had the intercoolers stamped Perrin everyone would be all over these.
$140 shipped

We've tested the copy vs. our genuine AMS intercooler. Even at lower HP levels (mid 300range) the copy was barely better than stock, while our intercooler made roughly 10whp more.

Guys, not all intercooler are the same. To the guy who says, hey it's just an intercooler, how can you screw that up. Really? have you looked inside an intercooler and see how the fins are arranged, if there are turbulators and how they are made, the actual cross section flow area, ect. Trust me I've been searching high and low for a lower cost alternative for our intercooler cores and I can't find one that close to it. I've found plenty that are cheaper but each time we put it on the dyno and test it, the results are disappointing. For those of you who are promoting and pushing these intercoolers, would you be happy losing your job to someone half as qualified as you for $4/hr???

The same idiots who copied our intercooler are also selling cheap *** turbos that have the compressor cover halves glued together!! We just had a customer bring in a car with that sweet XS power turbo and the compressor cover exploded in two! If you own an EVO there is no reason you should be putting these parts on your car. It would be like going to a nice steakhouse and ordering a hot dog. If you're buying a good car don't put crap parts on it!

theyre all defensive about the ebay because its real competition. If theirs was better than the ebay they would post results and show its better and all this debate would stop, but since they can't show theirs are better since theyre not they cant do that.

That sums everything up right there...

I believe the one I bought was 12x24x3.5 core. It fit the stock couplings with a little persuasion. Shipping weight was 18 lb.

There is nothing to debate here. A quality name brand intercooler vs a knock off. They have probably are did the research on it. If AMS was satisfied with the results of a knock off they would have sold them and put their name on it. A good core is hard to find. Same thing applies to all quality parts. They are proven to make power.

Dude, you just said it, "I mean the quality isn't the best but wood is wood!"

Ebay is fun and all if you want parts that "work"

Why do think there are many evo m members cars that are putting out SERIOUS power? Do you think they are running ebay parts? Not a chance.....

Look at Ifarted2, who is using ETS, 1000whp that is SICK.........

How many cars has AMS produced that are running over 1000 whp....

How many cars has buschur got going insanely fast?

How many of these cars are using stuff they bought off of ebay? more than likely none.

AMS/Buschur/ETS parts work better when used together, the results are usually amazing. I was one of AMS first customers to hit 500 whp on their 50 trim kit. Most people are not hitting those numbers by running ebay 02's and ebay intercoolers.

People are driving around in 30,000 cars and you want to run cheap parts? I just get confused as to why people by an EVO, maybe not have the money to mod it correctly however tend to buy cheap parts from ebay to save some money.... It all comes around in the end. Once the ebay intercooler is beyond it's capacity then you have to upgrade it again to AMS/Buschur or whomever. Does not make sense to buy things twice.

If you want to mod your car feel free, just thing twice before doing it with parts that you may have to buy twice.

Everything will " work " not matter where it comes from however you more than likely will not gain what you could.

I have a ebay o2 with a ams catback with a bushur test pipe with a vivid racing with an ETS turbo with a ebay intercooler with a bla bla bla.....

That combo will not yield you the best gains.....

that is why companies like Buschur and AMS run staged kits, they have R+D and produced kits that work best for each stage to maximize power.

Sorry for the long post but this ebay crap gets on my nerves.

I just hate seeing people drive around in sweet cars then run cheap parts then complain that the car is underpowered.

Thanks Martin for jumping in on this......

The intercooler really shines when ur running high boost. at 19 pounds ur not gonna notice much of a difference.

DB did the test showing how great it is..... on a 650whp car compared to his race intercooler which is about 25% LARGER! it only lost 12whp..

Not bad since this is rated for aroudn 500whp.... =-)

like the o2 housing i wouldnt be surprised if he stopped making his street core and just started selling the ebay cores lol

Cheers!
** note it only lost 12whp with knock correction turned off. What would have happened if it were turned on ?

Also, I'm running no intercooler at all it "works fine"

Couldn't of said it better myself. I know so many people that run ebay intercooler and manifolds on their evos and it drives me crazy. I would never put that crap on my car, especially a $30,000 car. 2003lancerevo8 and I BOTH hit 499.xx awhp on AMS' dyno with their 50 trim. Do you think we had any ebay parts on our cars? NO!

People can say what they want to justify their purchases, but the facts are out there that the ebay intercooler on not efficient at all when it comes to lowering temps. I can go on and on, but it would be pointless.

AMS, Buschur, and ETS put out fast cars for a reason. Their parts are designed properly and are not knockoffs. Thanks Martin for chyming in!
