Ticking noise after letting off throttle?

When I let off the throttle at any speed in my standard IV I can hear a ticking noise that goes away after about 3 seconds, any ideas?

Topped up the oil as it was between min and max on the dipstick but noise remains. Sounds like the tappetts but shouldn't that be continuous noise?

My guess: Exhaust leak. Small, probably at the manifold or turbo gasket.
IF, it also does it when the vehicle is not moving.

If it only does it when moving, its possibly a CV joint. Or other driveline part.

Where is the noise coming from?
Low pitch, high pitch?

Highish ticking noise, very similar noise to the old CVH engines that always had knackered tappets, the noise is definately under the bonnet. Not looked for the noise whilst parked up yet, I will rev it up slightly tomorrow whilst stationary and see if it ticks after letting off the gas.

I took the car to 'BTR Prep' in Cas today and he says the noise is normal, the ticking noise was very quiet whilst stood though.
