Just had Exedy Twin installed, questions about pedal adjustment.

Well I just got my car back last night. First thing I noticed was my pedal was engauging almost immediatley off the floor. Im talking, lifting the pedal up 1" and being full engauged out of the 6" or so of pedal travel we have. Needless to say, I dont like it.

The shop adjusted the pedal for me. They said (with 3-4 threads showing) it was verrry notchy, so they adjusted it out more, and it smoothed it WAY out.

Well, i got under the dash today, and only 1 thread was showing. I went ahead & adjusted it even more out to where no threads are showing now. I went for a drive, and its a little better, but still pretty much engauges off the floor.

Why is it like this? If I was to shorten the pedal back down to stock length, the car would be engauged when the car started!

Also, when the car is cold, it is difficult to get into reverse, and the same with 1st. Whats the deal? I do not have the stainless steel clutch line, and still have the stock pill. Stock shifter, and bushings.

It sounds like you're adjusting it the wrong way. If I understand what you mean by "engage" and "out", more threads showing will help your situation, not less threads.

They also make a longer rod for the release fork, that would give you a lot more adjustment, assuming you run out of thread adjustment.

Another way to look at it, if your pedal engages/disengages the clutch too high, with very little leg movement, you want to adjust so less threads are showing. If your pedal engages/disengages the clutch just off the floor board with alot of leg movement, you want more threads showing.

Evomoto says the opposite.

To move the rod higher and increase travel (move engagement up), turn the rod clockwise. To reduce the travel (move engagement down), turn the rod counter-clockwise.

right.... but what do they mean by engage? See the delima? Different people have different terminology. When you "engage" the clutch it starts to slip by some peoples definition, but when you "engage" the drivetrain, the clutch starts to grab.

By evomoto's definition, when you want to move the "engagement" point higher, they are speaking of when you want to the car to start to move as the drivetrain is engaged.

It's worth a try, no? Won't take 5 minutes, but it will most definitely answer the question.

Yeah thats what I meant. Let me draw it out here to make it easier on all of us.

1-2-----------3 (And this setting with zero threads showing.)

1=firewall
2=me fully engauged, as in, driving around
3=the top of my pedal

So, instead I should turn my adjustment counter-clockwise to move the engauging point higher..like this...

1------2------3

1=firewall
2=me fully engauged, as in, driving around
3=the top of my pedal

I mean, my engauging point is right off the firewall. I have NO play from letting off the clutch. As soon as I raise my foot off the firewall, the car begins instantly engauging & starts pulling forward.

I have my engaugment point closer to the fire wall and that is how I refer it. I hate having the clutch all the way up top. When I use to drive me 2G and then my EVO I would be like WTF this is so weird! Down low just seems to me how a clutch should feel. When my clutch engages up top that meen to me that it is about that time for replacemnt.

I just want the engaugement in the middle. I dont want how it is now, off the firewall, and I dont want it up top. Just middle!

You need more threads showing!!!

Try it.... it won't take but a couple minutes to test results.

And it is very easily reversed if you don't like it.

Ok, went outside & made about 3-4 threads showing. Started the car and was locked out of every gear. So I went ahead & adjusted it back to 0 threads showing and it goes in each gear perfect but the engaugement is still at the firewall.

ok,

in my experience, that's completely backwards from what I would expect. But you can't argue with results!

I'm not yanking your chain or just "guessing" at a solution, it should've helped, but it appearantly didn't. At least that rules out a longer clutch rod as a solution.

I adjusted it to where there is negative 1 thread ... rofl... You cant even see any threads any more, I have it screwed in that far. Shifting has improved... every gear is like butter and engaugement is a little more upwards like I wanted... (not totally where i wanted but this will do).

My clutch pedal is like 3/4-1" inch higher than my brake pedal. I wonder why my clutch pedal is so tall. Oh well. Atleast it feels good.

After driving around today, I like where the engaugement point is, but the clutch pedal is so damn high... I must have like 9 inches of clutch pedal now. Its rediculous. Any recommendations? I think its a little notchier too at this height.

if the engagement height is changing that much without making any adjustments, and changing just by driving around, I'd be concerned something isn't put together right with the install.
