Remember its all about how close to the edge you want to push the envelope.

You can make 360whp on a dynodynamics with a Green as a daily driver. You will also need to add cams, spend time on a good tune, and have access to at least 92. On pumpgas with a minor issue I have run 117 with the Green/S1's/3.5"IC/etc. here in the PNW. Without the cams and the intercooler I ran a best of 115 with pump on the green and 118.7 on racegas at 26psi. I know the car has a lot left in it as soon as the 6 speed has been replaced and some of the other bugs get worked out. My point is it takes power to run, and the Green is no slouch.

Right before it came out I really was hoping the Red would be right behind. Now if the Red came out that would be cool but I really like the Green for a street turbo. A 50 trim or GT30 or whatever is gonna be laggier than the Green by a few hundred RPM but when you are talking about the difference between 3600 and 4100, where do you spend most of your time?

Good point...and great elaboration. How much would porting really benefit the airflow? I wonder if anyone's done a before and after on the dyno with just porting....

I will be. I have been recording the results from every upgrade done to the Evo. Next up is AMS 3" TBE, followed by Megan 02 housing, and then a ported OEM turbo manifold.

Funny you bring up porting. It really seems to help keep torque flat for awhile...check this thread out, post #88:

http://www.norcalevo.net/forum/index...,20262.75.html

It also seems to help with knock resistance.

Thanks for the link! So it seems that porting seems to have some benefits in terms of torque levels and leveling, and allows for a little leaner of a tune and less knock according to the GST guys....

I think a friend of mine here in town knows some guys that have a flow bench that might be able to accomodate my IM ane EM....The turbo is already ported.

IMHO, if you really want to maximize performance, you should look at an intake manifold like the Magnus (I just bought one myself) that doesn't have a super huge plenum like the AMS. It will work better with a turbo like the Green...plus get a 65mm throttle body. I recommend the WOT version.

Here is another graph (mine) that shows a pretty darn flat torque curve from full spool to 5800rpms. Yes, porting helps It also seems to hold the power up top pretty well and not trail off.

I would HIGHLY recommend sticking with the stock ported intake manifold and a 65 mm throttle body actually. I don't think any aftermarket intake manifold is going to give an over all benefit to the green.

GREAT NEWS!

This weekend Tony and Tom Powell from Oklahoma came to the DSM/EVO Shootout and set a new record. They ran a 10.87 and 10.88 on the green at 127.xx mph AND did it on a stock ECU, stock shortblock and stock head!

Great job Tony and Tom.

BTW...if I recall correctly there were a few people bashing the dyno numbers provided by DLL. These people stated that cars need to by dyno'd on a dynojet and then backed up on the track. Well, I haven't made it to a dynojet, but did go to the track this past Friday night. Here is the time slip from my best run:

In case it isn't evident, I am car #20311. The other car was a newer M3. LOL!

How much horsepower would you estimate would be necessary to run that kind of time?

Closest 1/4 mile track for me is 2 hours away (without any traffic).

Yea, 10 sec on a green shows you its potential... my plan is still to port the stock intake & TB, get an UICP, and see how well I can get it to flow

Well, I have seen some data that shows hp went up and boost went down with a Magnus manifold, which suggests the engine was breathing a lot more efficiently.

Perhaps the data I've seen is not correct, however, the proof will be in the pudding once I get the car re-dynoed. I can always go back to my ported stocker

Why would you consider the 1/8 mile junk? Regardless of whether you run on a 1/8 or 1/4 mile track, one of the most important factors, your 60', is captured.
