FP green turbo worth the price?
man...this thread just reminded me of something my buddy said...."dont laugh, just wait until my vtec kick in"... lol... i like hondas though...seem a couple fast little fu$ker...
Personally I think the stock 9 turbo with alchy is the hot ticket for 70% of the people on this forum. This combo is good for a high 11 second car with just a TBE and tune.
Another 20% would be happy with a GREEN and alchy. Done correctly its the perfect turbo for a part time race car. Should be good for very low 11s or better depending on how much money to stick into supporting mods.
The remaining 10% don't give a crap about lag. They want top end power for straight line racing only. They claim lag is over rated. These guys should jump straight to an 35R or bigger.
Lastly I'd like to say that you can have your cake and eat it to. This scenario involves nitrous. I know most of you are scared of the bottle but its the best bang for the buck mod you can do. Its benefits are numerous.... it helps spools big turbos and it can be used only when needed. Like alchy, done right it is very very safe. For $1000 you can safely add 100whp to your evo.

Does anyone have any dyno proven results on the STOCK turbo with a 100-150 shot of nitrous?
take a look on vivid i dont know if you care or not but FP has a gt35r with a 30r turbine wheel to make it spool faster. I havent heard anything on it but i did post it up to see if anyone did and im just waiting for some feed back.
Hrm, maybe if they come out with a HTA3065, put that on a 2.3, 22psi by 3600rpms?
That'd be sweet.I think the green is definitely worth it. It costs thousands less than a 50-trim kit, and makes similar power. If I was in the market for a turbo upgrade, it'd be what I would buy.
I read the very first post only. So excuse me if what I am about to say has been covered 50 times already.
First off, the Green does sell for $1700, end of story, you can bolt it on your stock manifold and 02 housing if you choose to do so. The GT35 that you listed for $1700 isn't even close to what you need. The turbo alone will do you know good. So since I think we have the lowest price kit that actually has been proven to work I will use us for an example. Our kit with the 35r is $2995, we have a few kits left we are selling on sale now for $2795. So over $1,000 more than the Green.
The green offers excellent spool up and new stock like feel down low. We now have 4 cars that have gone 10's on the green at 126-130 mph, depending on which of those 4 cars I am talking about. I have countless others running under 11.50's at well over 120 mph and some of those are on straight pump gas. The green makes GREAT torque down low. On our dyno we've had multiple cars make 450 ft lbs.
The GT35r on the other hand is laggy and not as much fun to drive. It will make 600+ whp and has put a few cars into the 9's, 3-4 of those are also from here. The turbo will make good torque too but only at high boost.
I say there are two turbos for an EVO. The Green and the 35r. Those are your two best choices but for a daily driver that sees occasional track use or if you like the feel of the low end power, the Green is the winner

But the price he quoted for the 35R kit is for the cast manifold kit.

^ Well sure but you are talking thousands of dollars there. Buy a new nitrous kit, use it for two years, then sell it for nearly what you paid for it..... or ..... put it on the next vehicle you own.
Nitrous on top of a 16G has been done for years. Dyno results normally prove more WHP than expected. There is a fairly large racing scene in my area. I'd say at least 50% of the cars run the bottle. I used it on my PGT and DSM and as soon as I upgrade the clutch on my EVO it will see the squeeze as well.
