What can a 2.4 engine really be reved up to without failing.

Ive done some research but I either read that the 2.4 engine can be reved to 7800 safely or 8000-8500 safely which is it?

I believe its around 8.2k and from my understanding the 2.0 are made to be high revving demons and make way more hp then tq. However, the 2.4 are straight out torque mosters.

the short rod or long rod type 2.4?

What about a 2.4 destroked to a 2.1? Isn't that what AMS has in their Dragster? I hear those can rev up to 10K or so.

Very close to a 2.0 for big turbos.

I thought AMS had the 2.3RR motor in there car.

I believe AMS is using the 2.1 in both their drag and road race cars. I think they just switch the turbo out.

Depends on piston speeds and weight of the rotating assembly, especially pistons/rods.

actually ams is using a 2.3 35R combo in the time attack car from last words of eric.

and a 2.1 in the drag car with either a 42R or a 45R I don't know if they switched turbo's on the drag car.

2.1 for ams last time i checked and it would depend on what you wanted to do with the car to me and the set up i kno your asking what can it be reved to but just wondering what are you gonna do with that 2.4 ?

wow people got off topic real quick


7500rpm is a very safe rpm max to set it at.

But if you want to push it hard 7800rpm max anything past that you better make sure you check rings, clearnce, plugs once and a great while.
