3000ways, when a clutch is slipping, the rpms fly UP, they don't drop. They fly up because the clutch is not grabbing the flywheel like it should.

Mine didn't, I'd go WOT and when I hit say 3500RPM it would hesistate and drop down to like 3000RPM and then continue unabated to redline. Believe me this is why I was so confused, eventually it just got worst and wasn't grabbing at all. I don't know how to explain other than the way it was explained to me, hits a certain point during WOT and the clutch slips and grabs again. Eventually it isn't grabbing at all and the RPMs do fly up.

Hey I could be wrong, but I am just letting you know my experience, if it turns out to be something else then please share with us what it is, because this is a common EVO problem and so many people have different answers to it.

Curious questions : What were the last mods/tune made? When was it? Stop and think for a minute, as you could have over looked something.

Do a boost leak test. I've had leaks on mine just stock. Here is a link to how I made my tester. Once you have the parts to make the tester it only takes 5 minutes to knock out the test. See:

3000ways, Im sorry if i came across as a jerk. I do appreciate you insight and appreciate your time. Its just my experience with clutch slipping was different than what yours was. Weird. If it ends up being the clutch i owe you a huge apology haha.

Thanks guys for the help. I am thinking it could have been bad gas. I filled up at a Shell station that I dont usually go to and the problem has gone away. I dont know how long it will last. I am still going to pull the plugs this weekend and get retuned soon. Thanks again, guys!

Not so dude. If the clutch is slipping it will be obvious, you will see the revs jump as the acceleration slows down. When a clutch starts slipping your brain immediately tells you something is wrong because it is a very unnatural combination of events

If the revs aren't jumping then falling back it is probably not the clutch. Most likely two cases are missfire (what some are calling spark blow out) or knock.

Is it colder now than when the tune was done? How old are the plugs and what are they?

mad VIII, the plugs are NGK's stock heat range ( i forget the model number but they're available at autozone). They are well over a year old, i know i need to change them lol. the stock ones lasted a while so maybe i should go back to those?
