Wanna go cheap? head to the stereo shop and buy your own wires. Wanna look good? get the HKS Circle Earth kit. 2 extreme ways of doing it i think

I saw the thread about 2-3 weeks ago and I forgot which forum it was in. It was a very good price and all of the people were happy with the kits that they had received!!!

AbusiveWombat is selling the grounding kits for $40 shipped
I installed mine a few days ago... Awesome quality, very well done. I checked the wires and terminal covers for signs of heat damage, but they seem to be unchanged after a couple of hours of driving. Can't go wrong for $40 at the very least as a preventative measure.

well there is plenty of tests to prove for AND against synthetic oil usage... so why do you use synthetic oil? if it is logical it'll probably help somewhat... no one expects a major improvement with the grounding kit... maybe slightly brighter lights, better ecu performance, etc etc

Jae, so what is the bad side of synthetic oil? It's superior to regular one in absolutely every way.
This thread is funny.
How can you tell your ECU is not performing well?
And let me tell you, you're definitely not going to notice a brighter lights on the Evo since it has Xenon lights
One of the advantages of those lights is that they are more steady than regular higher-voltage halogen lights.
Cmon people...
I mean $20 is not expensive for the bling factor but spending several hundreds is a waste.

It's not that the ECU is performing poorly. It's that the stray current is causing it to read erroneous signals from the sensors. You can hear the same noise when you hook a stereo amplifier to a bad ground...that's the noise that the ECU is having to decipher. After the grounding kit my acceleration was noticeably smoother.

Well I noticed brighter headlights along with many others. The reason for the brighter lights is because there is now a larger drop in voltage across the filament.

I do agree that paying $100+ for some of these generic, one size fits all, grounding kits is outragous. That's why I built my own and offer it to everyone else. The kit is 1/3 the cost with all the gains and is custom tailored to the EVO VIII engine.

Another thing that I noticed is that the kit helped my car with an idle problem when all the accessories where running. My car's idle would stumble and in a few cases stall. Since the kit I have not had this problem.

There may also be other benifits not seen in the short term like battery life.

Is there any difference between the 4ga and the 8ga wires?

The only difference I know is that 4 gauge is about $1.00/ft more expensive (on average). I've never had an 8 gauge grounding kit on the EVO, so I don't know the difference when installed. I would think that both are so close that you would never be able to tell....but I could be wrong.

But IMHO, 4 gauge just looks sooo much better.

why do people complain so much

If we DON'T do a search and start a new thread, they will complain.

If we DO a search and reply into an old one, people complain about reviving it... why don't ya kiss my ****

Er...uh maybe I'm missing something...

I thought that big alternator looking thing that's solidly bolted to that big piece of metal where the spark plugs live powered the car when the engine was running and charged the battery in the process when the voltage was better than 13.8. The current carrying capacity of a 2 foot long piece of 8 or 6 gauge wire is about 70-80 amps depending on how well the terminations are connected with less than a 0.2 volt drop. Running the engine may use 30 - 40 amps with the ECU, ignitors, fuel pump, injectors, running (I'm taking a wild guess here and not including the starter or any accessories). So how does running wires from the engine block to the frame and back help anything besides running accesories?
