We usually run Sunoco or Shell.

This morning I tuned a car from out of state. The owner told me he filled up with Marathon 93 this morning. The fuel worked very good. 22-23 psi of boost, stock turbo and a reflash and it made 333 whp.

It may be the octane advertised, just non-oxygenated. Usually it would say so on the pump though. Some older cars need non-oxy stuff, but it'll make Evo's knock.

Bah, I just filled up at Valero due to its location. Not doing any racing, dyno'ing, or tuning in the near future, so I'll be ok, but I'll be sure to avoid that place from now on.

I did some research... valero is the refinery with the most throughput in the country..

It surprising.. unless its the walmart theory.. mass volume. low quality.. huge profits..

Valero and any other cheap brand of gas stations usually do not even sell 93 they have 91 or sometimes 92. The reason being is because they buy there gas cheaper because the are buying the gas that is flushed out of the gas lines after they are done selling it to big names. All the gas basically comes from the same place and same lines. After all the other top names companys get there 93 and so on the gas that is left in the lines is flushed out for the new batch to come through and like i said that cheap gas stations buy that flushed out fuel for cheap. Oh and when they flush out that fuel they mix it with a 93 so that is usually why cheap stations only sell 91 or 93 because it is a mix sometimes it may be good and sometimes bad

When I did some work at a gas station years ago, I used to see the truck come in and fill the tanks. He used the same nozzle for 87 and 93.

He would put in some octane booster **** for the 93, that was all.

Actually all gas is not the same. Different states require different additives, that's partially why prices differ. They also use different additives to oxygenate the gas.

For those of you in Jersey or where ever else has wawa's I have been using Wawa 93 for a while and had it in there during two tunes at turbo trix with 24psi and no knock during both sessions.
