clutch swap...

so im in the middle of a clutch swap ALL BY MYSELF... and im stuck im on step 14 of evomoto's guidline and this thing is a ***** gettin out... do i really need to take out the output? cant i jus take out the tcase ALONG with the output shaft still attached? ANYONE have any suggestions?

use a slide hammer and vice grips. it's pretty straightforward.

yeah man it is gravy... you should only have to hit it once or twice... but that ***** WILL NOT come out unless you seperate the two.

meaning.... using their ghetto rigged tool? the slide hammer + welded bolt and nut?

one end of the slide hammer is threaded, you can thread it into one end of the output shaft, put the vice grips on the other end, and slam the slide into the vice grips. it should pull the input shaft out.

nothin here sorry bud, it worked like a charm for me and i've seen many clutch jobs done but this was the only way i ever saw the shaft removed.

It comes right out. I did my clutch using the evomoto way too. I got a cheap Harbor Freight slide hammer and a bolt and after about two pulls, out it came. I saw on a UK website using a bolt threaded in to the shaft and the prying on the head with a crowbar. Slide hammer method is a lot easier though. Good luck

ok so i got it out now.... so do i have to pull the passenger side one too?

you have to pull off both front axles.

If you don't mind me asking is this your stock clutch that your replacing? how many miles on it I'm gonna be buying an evo soon and thats all I fear that if I buy a used evo I'm gonna need a clutch soon.. =/

If you're buying an Evo, get use to changing your clutch regardless if its new or not.

LOL Yeah it's a pain but can be done. Just be careful when reassembling. CLutch swaps tend to lead to TC whine...
