exactly!

if you are still running the stock airbox with cams, i guarantee you will not have idle and drivability issues. if you also have bigger injectors, get your injectors and maf scaled correctly (in this case, maf is already scaled correctly if using stock airbox) and you will have perfect idle with cams. i know i do (i have stock airbox, 750 injectors scaled withing 5%, cams and a perfect idle, no drivability issues either)

bottom line is scale the maf if you get an aftermarket filter or hardpipe. (a hard pipe WILL change maf readings even if you use it with the stock airbox...i've witnessed this first hand)

the cone filter is worth it if you run high boost. it will work the turbo less and hold boost better. the stock airbox is good, but like someone said before (i can't remember who in this forum), so what if you made 400whp on the stock airbox, maybe with an aftermarket intake, you could have made 420whp. that got me thinking! you know what i mean, guys?

it's just my first question that concerns me. (do i have to rescale the maf to accomidate for an aftermarket intake?...in this case the buschur...and that has already been answered as a YES)

I have 780s, and they were scaled by Mellon when he started working on my tune. I'm going to have to look into scaling my maf now. The How To in the ECUFlash forum looks simple enough, until you get to the bottom... If anyone would like to help me better understand, pls Pm me

Leave the MAF alone unless you want to start chasing your tail....just follow David's advice and be done with it. BTW changing injectors does not require scaling the maf, just the injector scaling and latency.

I'd say its your cams. I have the RMR intake and RMR induction pipe. I did not have to rescale the MAF. Car idles and drives perfect. 03 and 06 same deal stock maf scaling works perfect with the RMR

I understand that. I never said it was required. Was just answering his question. While I still have the stock rubber mass pipe, I like my CAI better and can live with the lopey idle, in fact I love the sound

I drove around with the Buschur cone filter (no MAF pipe) for a month of so with no tune. There were absolutly no driveability issues. The turbo and BOV got louder. The turbo seemed to spool a bit quicker, but that may have just been in my head.

I recommend it. It's not going to hurt much, and if you're that worried, get a tune afterward.

Excellent questions - would love more input! Is the tuning for the hard pipe worth the sweat? I'm rather guessing it MUST be...
