few questions

ok so im doing the 42r setup and i just had a few questions about it. wats the spool like gonna be on the 2.3? how high will i be able to rev it? how much boost would be good to run? i know i have to use the small radiator but ive heard that it overheats pretty fast?? if this is true how can i help it stay cool?

so are you "doing" the 42r setup or "thinking" about doing the 42r setup? Your doing a stroker motor and picking a turbo that is going to require a stratospheric redline to be able to breath right?

Would a 35R or maybe a T 67 fit this application a little better ? I know Mynes was a 2.3 with a top mount ts 40R mr 6 spd. They made it to the 10's but they sold it. Also a lot of people I see are rebuilding and destroking there 2.3s.

Also what are you going for should be the main question.

2.1 liter.......

or a built 2.0 yes because you will need a 10 or a 10,500 red line for that turbo to operate at it's full potential most of the big guys are running a 2.1 from my understanding.

whos kit are you going with?

ok but wat kind of stress will the 10k+ revs cause on the tranny?

its gonna be custom built by the previous owner of AFI andy. he fabricated a 42r kit before that retained the a/c and ps here in az and will be doing the same kit for me.

I know AMS is selling their new 2.3RR kit that is supposedly tachs out at 8500 RPM's i believe. Still not enough for the 42R but maybe a 4088 TS ? Or a HTA 35R on a stroker is probably sick.

Any built motor you should have a built drive train as well. But then again i believe Paul (ifarted2) is running stock drive train just a twin disc or triple i forgot which one and from who.

hi bro, just a couple of clarifications. We built 2 Evo 9's and people get them confused b/c they look almost identical. Mikie (customer with the TS 40r Top-mount) is the one selling his car... the Shop 9 is the one that ran mid-10's in Vegas and we have turned that car into Road Race car.

Spec's on Mikie's car:
- Evo 9 MR, 2.4l, GT40 TS Top-mount, MoTeC m800.... etc. I think his car is still up for sale.

Shop 9 Evo:
- Evo 9 MR, 2.4l, GT35r top-mount, MoTeC m800.... etc... We have added a few more items to the car and here is how it looks currently:

That Evo is hot. Sorry for not having my facts straight before posting. Still want that kit though. lol. Working on funds. Question though. Can you guys swap out a garret for a borg warner ? Or just price a kit minus the turbo sounds stupid but i want to try and go with a borg warner done by FI with a bb center and ett.

Another option to consider for a 42R sized turbocharger that retains the factory A/C, power steering and your stock radiator would be our T4 H-cover turbo kits. Turbo options for that kit start at 63mm and go all the way to 76mm. The 74mm Precision ball-bearing turbocharger that we offer in this kit uses the GT42R compressor wheel. There are currently two EVO builds in progress with these kits coupled with 74mm turbos. The one at DB Performance has made ~860whp Dynojet on 38psi. He will be turning it up in spring. The other one just got started with install and will be pushing his as hard as it will go right out of the gate. I expect his results in just a couple of weeks. If anybody has questions about how fitment is accomplished, what's included, or anything else, be sure to get a hold of me
