FULL RACE TWIN SCROLL 30R results and data
this has been a difficult one to find out . The last mystery - the inside of HKS's TO4Z comp housing - was tought to crack because no one down here would tell me. Hi Geoff , honestly I think the compressors themselves are just normal Garrett ones but sometimes in less than the largest trim size. I also agree about that 3037 , I'd use the TS turbine housing on it just in case the ratbags at Garrett put a few more smarts in the comp housing for HKS.
This is where things get a little odd. My compressor housing has GARRETT on it. Its an M33 A/R .60. It is marked KTT1. It also has the standard Garrett air outlet. Photos are here. But to me it looks exactly like a GT3076R. Thats not to say however that something inside is not different. Or that the store i bought it from is playing games in which case its going back :P.

That Comp housing looks completely different to mine. Mine looks to have a smaller outlet for a start.
I guess it is possible that i have a 3076 with a HKS rear but i did get it from a HKS authorized reseller. The plate on the turbo core does say Made by Garrett Japan and GT3037S on it which as far as i am aware the 3076s say well...GT3076R.
Is that turbo you have in that pic a 4" Bellmouth or is it the shrouded inlet?
Ok to clear some issues up here. I have done some searching and it appears the GT3037S is the same as a GT3076R and the T04Z is a totally different setup.
T04Z
GT3037S
"HKS T04Z Turbo *63T Trim - 0.61, 0.81, 1 A/R - T04 Flange - External wastegate
The HKS Signature Series Turbos are Garrett based, but have re-engineered compressor and turbine wheels along with specific A/R and trim levels to maximize power output. The smallest of the HKS Signature Series Turbos is the TO4S which is rated to 550HP and the largest of the series is the HKS flagship turbo the T51R SPL which is rated to 1,000HP. The T51R class of turbos is broken up into two units, the T51R Kai and the T51R SPL which are rated to 800PS and 1,000PS respectively. Both the T51R Kai and SPL utilize a V-band flange and are available with a ball-bearing center cartridge that allows for 11% faster spool up then the standard sleeve bearing versions."
Now as far as i know the T04S and T04R have been discontinued. So whats the deal with the T04Z? From what i can tell it appears to be considerably larger then a 3037.
Btw guys i dont mean to take this off topic, if you would prefer a new topic i can make one and transplant the info and this thread can be cleaned up.
EDIT: Found this link to the T04Z internals for you guys.

guys. i just wanted to add that even though im having 2 major issues
1 surging
2 boost control
i love my setup. i like it better then my 30r because of a few reasons. please do not think that its a bad setup. this is how we learn. and we know now that maybe most 35r TS kits need the surge cover. some might need it some might not. this setup is autstanding. its not even tuned yet and i love it more then the 30r setup. both setups though are kick ***. dont worry. things will get worked out and ill get up some banging results real soon.

1) surging -- i thought you said this was barely noticeable and not a major issue? If the engine has stock valves, stock ports, stock intake manifold and moderately sized cams, the surge cover might be beneficial as in your case. ill see what i can do to get one for you
2) boost control -- you have too much WG spring for your crappy boost controller. now that you actually ordered a REAL boost controller youll be much better off

2. lol. yea yea yea.
Hi Geoff , with the HKS T04Z comp housing we suspect its the larger diffuser (which you can see through the housings outlet) and its (we think) larger A/R ratio .
Someone we both know here in Australia reckons he tested it back to back with the std T04S 0.70 A/R Garrett housing and I think it picked up ~ 30 Hp .
I think there are some smarts in its turbine housing as well , the nozzle looks to be centered on the volute sort of more like a competition housing than Garretts garden variety Truck P trim housings .
Personally I think the P turbine and "R" compressor are a waste of a large frame BB centre section and only saw the light of day because Garrett just happened to be making a BB centre sectioned 60-1 turbo .
I also thing large diameter smaller trim compressors like the C117 (GT4088R and GT3782R St 1) are the way of the future . P trim , spare me . Give us a GT37 UHP turbine in 76/78 trim and the P would die of fright .
Back to that GT3037 , it could well be a GT3076R with a HKS 0.73 A/R GT30 turbine housing . Normally the HKS port shrouded housings came std with the bell mouthed insert so not sure .
If anyone has an original GT3037 with the insert and "BSK1" cast into the front of its compressor housing it would be good to see pics of the inside of its comp housing .
Cheers A .

If the Garrett units are no good is there a better unit then the 3076 that you can recommend me? The T04Z is definitely a brilliant turbo but way to big for a 2 litre.
