My clutch

please help me. i have an evo 9 with 40000 miles in it running on stock clutch. my clutch is almost gone. first gear i can hit it with power but after second gear you start hearing the clutch like is going away. my question is. i have to drive my car for about 6 hours to another state. will that clutch can be driven that long normal. without hitting the car hard. please let me know. i will run the car like 70 miles per hour only. thanks

That's a tough call. I'm thinking it'll make it as long as it's highway driving that way you're not constantly shifting the amount of load on it. I would definately stay in the right lane and not try to pass anyone.

in use while in gear. The higher the gear, the more the load so don't boost in top gear or she'll really start to slip.

How much will it cost you to have the car towed 6 hours if it burns through the rest of the way? Then add that to the cost of the replacement clutch and install and that is the potential loss if it fails.

been riding on my slipping clutch for a few months now... saving for that TD. just try not to boost too much. it gets annoying but just keep granny shifting and you will be fine.
