Cylinder #4 misfire and a spark plug question.
Cylinder #4 misfire and a spark plug question.
I took My Evo 8 to the Mitsubishi dealership to do some recalls and to have them check why the service engine soon light is on. They said that a cylinder #4 misfired. They recommended replacing the spark plugs and reevaluating. That would cost $200+tax for parts and labor. So i decided i will do it myself and buy the best spark plugs i can find
. The best spark plug i have found so far are these http://sparkplugs.com/more_info.asp?...1446&pid=25509 , if you guys find any better ones let me know. The only issue i have is that they have a .045 gap. Would these be able to fit my 2003 evo 8 or would i need a different size (yes i know they are made specifically for the 2003 evo, but there are several others with different sizes so im not sure) . Thanks.

Dude... what ever you do, do NOT just waist your money like that. Go to the O'Reillys and buy the BPR7ES. These are copper plugs. They'll last you probably 4-6k miles but are the best from what ive read. They will cost you a total of $6, if not less. Do the labor yourself. I have never changed spark plugs or gapped plugs in my life and did it in 15 minutes the other day. Not hard bro.
$5>$200 Any day.

If anyone has any input let me know. Thanks.
Its not really the size of tha plug that makes the difference it is the material they use. Iridium is top of the line. Then platinum and copper is the bottom of the line not saying copper is bad but NGK Iridiums are recommended. You can get them from Pepboys for sure.
NGK BPR7ES, as razorlab mentioned, or BR7ES is what most of us run. They are cheap copper plugs and you can just change them every oil change. Gap them to .026. 5 bucks.
I was thinking of changing my plugs the other day,but I couldn't find where they were located.Could someone please point a guy in the right direction,I don' t want to pay the dealer to do something that I can do.
