Unhappy Noise from underside of car

Hi All

I have an Evo VII FQ300 UK car that is 6 months old and only done 7000 miles to date.

I have heard a noise which I can only describe as possibly coming from the gearbox, propshaft or rear diff when I am about to stop driving or pull up anywhere.

I can feel a knocking through the floor and can also hear something while the car is moving very slow. Its happens all the time now but I have looked underneath but can see any faults. The car is perfect when over 10mph and still the same when you go past 160mph.

I only get it at speeds slower than 10mph and it doesn’t matter in the clutch is up of down.
I think is the prop or something to do with the rear diff.
Has anyone else had the same noise or knocking?
Cheers for any info on the matter.

Yup its like grending noise right? I have the same noise and my EVO had 1000 miles on it. Thats normal it the all wheel drive. because when you turn or on low speed you can hear it more plus you have four wheels moving in the same time.

I would check the clamps on the exhaust that was installed during the conversion to FQ...are you the member who had clutch problems a few weeks ago?.....examine the prop shaft for strike marks.....there is a balancing weight at the rear that runs close to the exhaust clamps....otherwise it might be something to do with ACD or AYC.....and I know zilch about those systems

This sound that you're talking about does it sound like a CLUNK? Like some thing fell out of the transmission?

If it is then I have had this happen a couple of times, but as you have described it only happens when I'm coming to a stop or break really hard and throw it into first gear with the clutch still pressed in.

I can here this clunk. It doesn't happen very often though. If this is what you're describing then I too am wondering what that noise is. Anybody?

Question

I recently was driving kinda hard through some subdivisions, hitting turns and getting on it a little. I came to a stop sign and mashed the brakes and a huge pop came from the underside of the car. It was a little scary. Needless to say I stop hammering on the brakes. I still hear this noise sometimes under normal brakeing, just not as loud. Any ideas on what it could be?
