Shortest Available 5th gear?

Hey guys,

I've got a evo9 and am wondering what would be the most possible lowest 5th gear to purchase for this thing. 3700 rpms at 80mph on the highway really kills gas mileage. I;ve looked through sheptrans and tre but do not see anything mentioned on the website. I didn't really bother to look up ratios and whatnot nor do the calculations but I'd be damned happy if I could achieve 2500 rpm at the same speed I posted above. This car is my daily driver and gas doesn't get cheaper. It better gas mileage or the evo goes up for sale.

Thanks.

Damian.

keep in mind that lower RPM doesn't necessarily equal better fuel mileage. If you're going 2500rpm, but pulling 10# of boost to do it you could quite possibly be getting worse mileage.

the money your going to spend swaping in this new gear is probably going to caust just as much money as your saving on gas. does not seam worth it. you should have bought a car that is made to get good gas mileage

Yeah, shoudl've, soon the dsm might be running though, so this car might have no use for me though, but its not like the dsm had better gas mileage anyways, I'm fawked both ways.

I try not to hti boost while I cruise, I aint no highway racer, just try to get to work in a reasonable time.
