EDIT: I am using a Hallman MBC in my personal car. Interestingly enough, I built a "Home Depot" special boost controller paying very particular attention to the build. (Read: Very **** building it). I did compare data logs to my Hallman (One car to another car compare JDM MAP logs) and the Home Depot special controlled boost to within 0.4 psi on the other car. I was duly impressed with my built Home Depot special, and so was the guy who's car I put it on. (We reviewed ton's of his data logs to verify it was working correctly.

Thats a good point, but here is something that has helped me out a little (I think, probably the problem too. Ha!).

I moved my boost controller to a custom made bracket that locates it almost over the coolant outlet on the head, parallel to the valve cover, about 3/4" away. I used to have it mounted down just benieth the air filter (Where most aftermarket air intakes put it) and I noticed that it holds more consistent boost up top than below the air filter. Theoretically speaking, it probably would because it doesn't go through the drastic temperature changes up there because the radiant heat keepin the boost controller hot all the time. Reasonably speaking, my AIT's would change quite a bit from my driving conditions, and where I was at the time. Using my AIT as aa "guide" as to what temps the boost controller would see because the MAF was only about 6" away from the controller, it would range sometimes up to +30*F. Mounted in my new location should keep the temperature more steady with the boost controller.

But, the real questions is how much "more steady" it holds is. My guess it hold is about 0.0002344352224% better. He he... Maybe I can do a few 3rd gear pulls and see if it changed in my logs from previous tuning pulls.

I bought my Dejon 2 weeks after I bought my evo. When I first installed it I would get a little boost spike. After a few days it went away. Been great since.

Good info...

Doesn't spiking also depend on how you install it?

I have the Hallman Pro RX. Works great with very little spike, and it is easy to adjust. I see approx. a 1 psi difference between cold (15F) and hot (100F) outdoor temperatures, which is great as far as I am concerned.

This is the exact one that I built, but mine was really thought out. I didn't use a straight up bolt for adjustment, but a stainless socket head with a knob tig welded to it. I drilled my pressure relief hole in a slightly different spot, as well as a few other things.

I also built one exactly liek the one in the picture, and used it in place of my hallman just to see how good it really was. I must say I was very impressed with it. It held boost just as good as the Hallman.

The looks of it leave a little bit to be desired, so I polished the pee out of it. Now it looks like a polished turd. Haha!

Thanks but I was actually asking about how you installed it, not how you built it.

Wooops you also have that in the link...thanks!

Anyone know what spring initially comes in the hallman pro rx? Is it the softer one?

And is it difficult to change them out?
