im on stock regulator so would there be a chance that the regulator went out during the pull??

im sending everything to get looked at fuel pump injector everything that might have caused it cause im running out of options that woul be the cause its the tune or fuel right??

thats the only thing i could think of melting the plug like it did man one cylinder thats fn crazy did i just make history or what haha

and the wierd thing about it its the coldest cylinder in the motor say the closest to the TB idk know man its fn wierd cant wait till saturday

The coldest cyl is probably the one with the longest exhaust runner but this wouldn't matter in the case of over advance

Going lean (lean is leaner than stoich) gets cooler and makes less power then eventually misses as things get leaner. Hitting the rev limiter is the same as a FPR vac line popping on and off constantly. Running a car at 14 -15 afrs under load on the other hand will melt the engine eventually.

What does the oil look like under the rocker?

The way I look at it the CHT got extreemly high (for any numerous of reasons, i.e., HG, timing, knock, too hot plug), the plug exceeded it's heat transfer capacity and then the sucker becomes a glowing plasma ready to ignite anything like trapped gasses during a compression stroke at 90* btdc

Curious to see the compression test reslts. Best of luck!

I would bet anyone here a $100 that if you pull a vacuum line of the reg, as soon as you come on boost the car will miss so hard you will just pull over, check whats wrong and fix it. You will never have a chance to run lean for any long period which would cause problems. You won't have a chance because the car will be MISFIRING!

The car's fuelling will be off all over the place. It will be super rich on vacuum and so lean on boost it will just MISS like a fuel cut.

I've had it happen to a car I worked on and it ended up spitting a rod out the block.

You are assuming the line would come off before the car comes on boost. Suppose you are already on boost (25 psi) when the line pops off? It is not likely the line is going to come off under vacuum or low boost.

Meaning the reg would not have a chance to rise with boost.

Also keep in mind I am no expert but I put out my theories and wait to either have them confirmed or corrected.
understood people learn from experience and others help also

If it was the regulator then all plugs would look bad not just one

usually when the hose comes off the regulator the car leans out so much it just shuts off

I'd call the shop and see if they have an explanation. Did they tune it as well?

He's got a drop in walboro.

I've seen the car right after it was put together and helped him out with a break in map until he could get it on the dyno. Sorry to see this happen to him. Car ran great when I touched it, think he ended up getting over 1500 miles on it with the tune I did without a single problem.

Teddy,

Who tuned the car on the dyno for you? What shop (pm or call me on my cell if you rather not say it on here). Mind if I look at the map to see what they did?

If you A/F ratio is good and your not kicking super high boost you should be ok.
