evo green manifold options
I have read the test. I have also seen all designs of evo manifolds. The full-race design isn't that far off from a megan. Only difference as stated above is that it is the quality of a manifold that makes the price. Yet the megan did horrible that buschur said and the full-race did the best. I have also seen better gains on my borla compared to my stock ported than what david got comparing the full-race to ported. I am not saying the Full-race is crap. I am saying it is not the best manifold. It is the best quality though.
That is just a ridiculous comment. An 8 and 9 manifold are the same thing. Where did you see that. Plus I am not pushing any manifold. I have tested a lot of manifolds made for the evo and this one has made the most power. The quality of the borla is horrible which surprised me since the headers I had from them on my Trans Am looks so much better. I am having my manifold duplicated with the same piping used by fullrace.
I have the JIC on my evo it cracked when I used header wrap. Just rewelded it and its fine now. For the downtime I used a PPI ported manifold and it worked great!
Tubular feels like it gives you more top end than stock. + it sounds better IMO
Cast ported feels more tq down low than stock.
At the end of the day op whats your budget?
PPI does amazing work and would recommend them for porting. This is by far the most affordable.
When it comes to tubular they will crack unless the thicker stuff is used. It all depends on when. If you use the Invida 02 it uses the factory mounting to the block so it helps prevents a lot of the vibration that causes the cracking. Either way its up to you. I wish you luck!

stock ported is definately the best bang for the buck, but looks was a factor for me so tubular was th only option. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for.

This is not to start an arguement, I am just going to point something out. There are (6) EVO's that have gone 10's on the green, that I know of. All of those but one had a stock ported exhaust manifold on them. If my memory is correct the one that didn't used a DC Sports header, it cracked.
Anyway, maybe they all had ported stock because all of them were directly related to our shop and that's what I suggest. Point is they work, they are reliable and they are cheap.

Here is stock cast manifold VS. a Megan manifold with a FPgreen on a Evo 8:

As you can see it lost a bunch of spool with the Megan manifold, and after that both where pretty much the same.
I had a Evo 8 with a JIC tubular manifold on the dyno 3 weeks ago. The manifold cracked 40mins into the dyno tuning session.

Looking at razorlabs dyno sheet it looks like we got about the same results. The stock one spools the fastest of anything and if I am guessing right as the chart is hard to read, even uptop the stock one makes a few more HP. The Gtspec we tested is very similar to most other headers out there in design and the results looked like the Meagan from above.
revmoto, other than the Full Race the stock ported/coated manifold outperformed all others we tested. The Full Race made more power up top. Nothing I have tested has beaten the stock manifold under 5,000 or so RPM.

david,
yea sorry I didn't do dotted lines for the other curve. The Megan made a little more power up top (3whp peak), but not enough in my book to warrant the loss in spool.
