Exedy twin plate almost broke my tranny!

hi,
I have bought exedy twin plate clutch kit HD for drag racing and street application my car is about 389 whp. I had problems when I installed few month ago although the bearing was changed and I had problems with reverse and putting it to first gear at a cold start. One time I launched the car with launch control hand brake up in first gear the car is flashed to launch at 6000 so I launched the car it was fine til six gear as soon I put it in I heard something broke from front like metal then I stopped and checked all gears they were ok then I put it in first then it refused to get out even if I turn off the car we took the tranny out it needs an overhaul it appears the clutch is burned in the middle and it seems stuck at some point I am gonna send it to exedy but that will take time since they have to check it in japan good thing I have clutch product code on the box but this process will take a month or so and they will maybe blame me or the fitment or they might change it and I cant wait cant live without the car lol .

my question is anyone have Act street clutch? if so have you had any problems with it? I am not planing to go above 430 whp any kind of is advice about this clutch would be helpful I am not planing to spend way too much money on a clutch that I dont need.

Sorry to hear about your clutch. I have the same clutch and launched several times with no problem. Hope they replace it but you know how those things go. Your profile says you drive a GSR but you have a SIX Speed?

IF your car is EDM or JDM it has the getrag 6 speed from what I understand which is different than the Aisin that the American market cars get. I dont know if there is an actual clutch difference though. Some of what you describe might have been caused by the adjustment not being correct. Its hard to say though.

Are you sure it wasn't an installation error? Typically if you can't put the gear in first and reverse during cold start, it usually means the clutch/flywheel were not installed properly by the mechanic.

I had trouble getting into first and reverse and was almost locked out when cold. My problem was my clutch pedal adjustment. I adjusted it a little when I still had my stock clutch and had to change it again with twin disc and no problems since.

I like the exedy twin plate shifting and all but I posted long time ago my issues with first gear and reverse issue I reinstalled clutch again cause the tranny got damaged but the clutch was ok I overhauled the tranny 3 selectors and 4 rings but the problem got worst. My stock clutch held like 15+ launchs till it started slipping then I changed it but this time no slipping it just got stuck the clutch disks are both ok and not burnt just in the middle its burnt its like when my engine detonated with a spark failure it fell in a piston head and made a crack on the side of it which is not fair and i had to rebuilt my motor to 88.5 oem pistons

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb-dKtVCaSs this when it detonated lol dont check other videos dont wanna get banned

agreed, i have an RPS MAX, it is still good, the exedy twin is a great clutch, but pricey. i have lots of friends with it. if installed wrong you will have trouble.
